I just got Window 8, so maybe that's part of the problem. I'm trying to install (beta) v0.42.04 and it keeps telling me I'm missing certain programs. First it was Avysynth. I found and installed that. The it asked for FFdshow. I found and thought I installed it, but it keeps asking for it.

In the past, I never had these problems. I simply downloaded everything and unzipped it into a folder and it worked like a charm. Is there a different version I should be using, or am I doing something wrong?

If you read the first post in the bug report thread it tells you there are several programs that need to be installed in addition to what comes with BD-RB. Make sure you install the correct versions.

@Av8r

Hi! The it asked for FFdshow. I found and thought I installed it, but it keeps asking for it. Is the message stating that you (still) have to install FFDShow, or is it stating that you have to alter some of the selections/settings IN FFDShow?

Thanks for the reply. No, it doesn't ask me to alter anything, it just keeps saying it can't work without FFdShow.

I thought I had everything installed that the needed to be before BDRebuilder, but maybe I missed something. Does anyone think it could have something to do with Windows 8?

Ok, I just realized that since I have a new operating system that I have to go back and install those various programs. The problem I'm having now is that when I try to enable mpeg2 it only give me a choice of libavcoded and libmpeg2. I know it says to do that from the start menu and programs, but Windows 8 doesnt' really have that, and I can't see to find the program anywhere.

you can get all the helper tools needed here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716 along with instructions on how to configure them properly

Yes, that's exactly where I was, and following the directions that I have done a number of times before. I'm just getting unusual responses like the one I mentioned about trying to enable mpeg2, and instead of going from "disabled" to "enabled", I got libavcoded and libmeg2 as choices. Does that make any sense at all to anybody/

Ok, sorry for all the trouble and confusion. I finally got it working. It was mostly an issue of using Windows 8 which has been quite confusing for me in these first few days. Instead of enabling mpeg2 in ffdshow, I used libmpeg2. For some reason that seemed to work. It is now in the process of compressing a large BD movie for the SSD on my laptop for a long flight to Thailand.

libmpeg2 is as you say an alternative to libavcodec. Both are "decoders", the MPEG2 setting however tills it HOW it should handle MPEG2 streams with which codec. Glad to see you got it working :) Enjoy the movie on the flight ;)

Either of those two options (libmpeg2 or libavcodec) is fine.
