Can someone tell me how BD-RB handles BD's with 1080i instead of 1080p? I want to use this on 1 of my Concert BD's and it is 1080i will BD-RB work just fine with that or will it make it 1080p? lol if it does make it 1080p that is OK by me.
Thanks in advance
*edit, I deleted the other post because it was not a bug report.

Hi TheGame,
I don't know what the answer is by couldn't you just try it and see what happens?

If you set DEINTERLACE in setup, the output will be 1080p and "--fake-interlaced" will be used in the encode. Otherwise the source will remain interlaced. You can't just change the state from 1080i to 1080p, because the two fields in 1080i occupy two temporal spaces (they are not two parts of the same picture, they are two different pictures that happen a fraction of a second apart). Deinterlacing in BD-RB will combine the two fields into a single picture using the selected deinterlacing algorithm (see HIDDENOPTS.TXT).
In most cases it is better to keep 1080i as-is. Deinterlacing always takes you one step away (in terms of accuracy) from the original source. The exception might be when you've decided to create output for a mobile device or other non-interlaced player.

Thanks for the info, I may try it out both ways.

If DEINTERLACE is set will the framerate always remain untouched (I think so), or will it depend on the type of the deinterlacer selected in the HIDDENOPTS.TXT, i.e.
DEINTERLACER_TYPE=n n = 1-4 - 1=DECOMB w/o blend, 2=DECOMB w/blend, 3=SmoothDeinterlace, 4=Progressive (fake)
Which type is the default?

The deinterlacer won't change the framerate -- but inverse telecining will (for NTSC video that is telecined).

So my second question: which deinterlacer type 1 .... 4 is slected by default in BD_RB? Is it 1?
From HIDDENOPTIONS.TXT:
DEINTERLACER_TYPE=n n = 1-4 - 1=DECOMB w/o blend, 2=DECOMB w/blend, 3=SmoothDeinterlace, 4=Progressive (fake)

From HIDDENOPTIONS.TXT:
DEINTERLACER_TYPE=n n = 1-4 - 1=DECOMB w/o blend, 2=DECOMB w/blend, 3=SmoothDeinterlace, 4=Progressive (fake) They both have good things about them. I'd say try them and decide for yourself. If I'm just doing simple deinterlacing I like to use SmoothDeinterlace most of the time.

Understood, thanks. But my question is: If I don't specify the deinterlacer type explicitly in the BDREBUILDER.INI, which type is then selected by default? Is it DEINTERLACER_TYPE=1?
