View Full Version : how to remove repeated frames from clip (doubles & sometimes sixtuples)?

I've got some clips from a friend, very very old stuff.
Sadly, a number of frames are randomly doubled, sometimes sixtupled (!), a pattern can't be recognized.
So how can I remove all of the redundant frames inside the file (audio sync is not important)?

I have tried to test fdecimate, mdecimate & tdecimate.
Best result was with fdecimate, but it has repeated sometimes two following frames in the moment where doupes has been removed.

Any suggestion what function can help me better?

Thanks in advance

Jim

you could try: http://akuvian.org/src/avisynth/dedup/

Multidecimate to remove ALL duplicates. But that may not be what you want if there are static scenes. Multidecimate has a feature to protect static scenes.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Sadly I had no good results with Multidecimate.
Many of static frames has not been recognized.
It seems that I couldn't find a good threshold value.

I will give dedup a try! ;)

An unprocessed source sample would enable us to help you much better. Watch out for rule 6 though. :)

Try Fdecimate ! Its working good for me, and you can choose the output from 23FPS to 29.97FPS

I got some good advice in this thread:

Automatically fix dups followed (eventually) by drops (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=161758)

Perhaps something there may help you.
