Hi guys,
I have been searching the most practical way of merging WVC1 wmv files.
I have to remux every individual file into the mkv container every time using graph studio:
WM ASF REader > Haali Matroska Muxer. (wmv > mkv)
And merge those recreated mkv files with mkvmergegui.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

If the files use the same video codec settings, you can load them all into Expression Encoder on the same timeline, and then with Video set to Source.
That'll pass through the bitstreams as well as it can, only reencoding where required for edits.
Make sure you're using EEv4 SP2.

Thanks Ben, however, I am looking for an open-source alternative.
I have an EE v2, and I do not want to pay another 200 bucks.

I have an EE v2, and I do not want to pay another 200 bucks.
The free version of EEv4 is free for all WMV/VC-1 projects, and would handle this just fine.
The paid version mainly adds H.264 and MP4 features.

Thanks.
Do you mean EE 4 SP2 RTM?
Otherwise, ı can download only the trial version from this link (even it seems free):

Or, does it mean this is gonna keep being free unless using h264 and mp4?

Hi Ben, sorry but I must ask this question:
Should I use the intelligent encoding feature so as not to re-encoding? If so, how can I do this?
And still I haven't found how to merge the files?
Thanks.

Even asfbin gives me what I want, I am still wondering how to merge videos with EE 4?
Ben?

I am still wondering how to merge videos with EE 4?
It's really pretty simple:
Import the first clip
Do "Add Source at End" or click the +clip icon at the right of play control bar to add additional clips
Set Output Format to Windows Media
Set Video and Audio codec to "Source"
Hit encode
Ignore the warning about edits if you haven't done any editing

Thanks a lot Ben!
However, I must say asfbin is more handy.
