I have been experimenting with the New Tmpgenc(2.51Plus) "illegal" SVCD templates. I am wondering why the illegal templates use smaller resolution? While experimenting with a selected source file, and encoding it at several different sizes, I have found the following;
352x480=10.2mb quality= heavy pixelation(blocks)during dark scenes
480x480=10.1mb quality= better but still pixelates
480x576=9.9mb quality= better with a noticeable less amount of pixelation
So the question is...why does the template use the lower resolution?
if it does not affect the file size(or adversely affects it, as my tests show) but quality is much worse.
I have burned all three samples to disc...there is no noticeable performance difference(jerkiness...etc) when playing on my Standalone or my 'puter.
