Forcing MPC-HC to use LAV Video and Splitter and MadVR in DXVA with DVDs

Likely, I have a number of problems with MPC-HC that I'll need help with, but let's start here. I want MPC-HC to use LAV Video codec during DVD playback, along with LAV Splitter and MadVR in DXVA mode. First of all, MPC-HC thinks MadVR doesn't work with DXVA, and so when I try to use it, I don't get DXVA mode. Second, MPC-HC insists on picking a codec like Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder to decode the video. It flat out refuses to use LAV Video Decoder for DVDs. This issue has always been here, even when I've gone the route of using FFDShow Video (un-accelerated), in which case I'd get FFDShow along with a video codec MPC-HC chose. I try to tell it to use the codec I have selected to do the decoding, and NO OTHER CODEC, and, well, it laughs at me, tugs on my hair, spits in my face, rapes me in the mouth and anus, screws my wife, and runs out the door squealing. I mean to say I'm tired of the abuse! I want my video player to do what I tell it to, whether it means decoding DVD video using LAV Video or FFDShow AND ONLY FFDShow!

Additional information: MPC-HC will play Blu-ray video using a strict regimen of LAV, ReClock, and MadVR in DXVA mode. But DVD is another matter.

I'm using MPC 1.6.4.6052, ReClock 1.8.7.9, LAV 0.51.3, and MadVR 0.84.3. I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit.

- LAV Video 0.51.3 doesn't support DVD

You can't force it to do things with stuff that doesn't support what you want to do.

Ok, but could I at least get MadVR to work in DXVA mode for DVDs with a different decoder, whether in "Copy Back" mode or whatever? It certainly works in DXVA mode for Blu-ray (at least MPC-HC indicates that DXVA is in effect). And EVR and Sync Renderer can both run in DXVA mode for DVD, but they don't have the nice scaling options that MadVR has.

And a further question, why doesn't MPC-HC want to let me play DVDs using only FFDShow to decode the video? Why does it always insist on bringing in another decoder?

The LAV Video test build does support madVR with DVD Navigator in "x"otplayer.

You need to make sure that :

1- ffdshow is on MPC-HC's external filter list and not blocked
2- MPEG-2 and DVD decoding is enabled in ffdshow : open ffdshow video decoder, in the "codec" category find MPEG2 in the list and choose libavcodec under decoder, then tick the DVD decoding box on the bottom left of the list (it only appears when you select the MPEG2 line).

And does anyone know how to get MadVR working in DXVA mode for DVDs? It works that way for other formats.

at least MPC-HC indicates that DXVA is in effectit's a bug. This "DXVA" indicator is misleading and useless.

dslibdvdnav + the forthcoming lav filters release will allow you to play dvds with madvr.

as for the dxva part...well, if you have an nvidia or intel gpu, you can use cuvid or quicksync in lav video. otherwise dxva copyback

it's also trivial to decode sd mpeg2 anyway.

it's a bug. This "DXVA" indicator is misleading and useless.

Well in that case, how can I tell if it really is in effect?

edit: the test build works with DVD. I'd still like to get DXVA for DVD ideally, though.
