View Full Version : Some DVD Folders/VOBs Reading As Empty?

I notice something strange with how certain DVD ISO/VOB Folders are handled. I have some DVDs that have a Video_VTS folder that contain the VOB files. Some are ISOs.

DVD Fab allows you to drag and drop these folders or ISO files into it's interface and then convert them to other formats, or rip them. Some DVDs in my collection work just fine. They load and the program is able to select the main movie file and convert it.

Others act differently. Almost as if the files are "empty." I can drag them into DVDFab and nothing happens. I have also tried using programs called Folder2ISO, which will not create the file because it does not seem to find any data in the folder. Yet, on other DVDs it's fine.

The crazy thing is that the VOB files themselves seem to be perfectly fine. They ripped with no problem and play in Windows Media Center or PowerDVD with ease.

What causes this strange behavior in some VOB Folder/ISOs?

Hi!

How did you initially create these problematic .ISO image files and .VOBs?

Some yes, some no. I don't have this problems on the ones I directly ripped. Only the ones from 3rd parties that created the ISOs.

However, the ISOs do play just fine in the DVD player software so there is no issue in that area.

What are these ISO's from third parties, movies, home videos, ...?

Yes, just regular movies ripped from a retail DVD.
