Hi all,
I have been given a SD DVD project to which they made the subtitles "forced". How can I change that from inside Scenarist to "non forced"?
Please note that the sst script that was inserted has non_forced.
Thanks!

If the script was 'non_forced', and they are truly 'forced' subtitles (meaning you can't actually turn them off when playing the disc), then someone manually flagged them all as forced.
If you click on any individual subtitle image, you will see an option for 'Forced Start' with a check box under the path of the file name for the .TIF file. If they are truly forced, there will be a check here. You need to uncheck it. For each individual subtitle... If you have the .SST/TIF files, just delete the subtitles and re-import them, that'll be a lot easier.
You can also export a script of the project and edit that if you are familiar with doing it...

Thank you rik!
Although all the subs were NOT flagged as forced in the Scenarist simulator it keeps showing the subs even if the GPRMs and SPRMs seems to have the correct values.
From your experience, is it possible to be a bug? I mean, maybe the Scenarist's simulation is not as good as it should be.
Got in mind a descent software dvd player in mind to install?
Thanks.

@srfscenar
Hi!
ARe you CERTAIN that the subs aren't BURNED in as PERMANENT parts of the video images?

Hi.
Yes, they are not burned on and finnaly as it shows, not forced.
The problem is this.
In Scenarist simulation the subs are always shown despite the fact that the commands and the GPRM and SPRM values shows the opposite.
The scenario is this.
For 3 clips it checks in the pre commands the sprm18 and if it matches the value of a gprm, which is set in the first pgc in a specific country's value, it should NOT load the subs. If the value is different then it should load them.
I burned the image and both in scenarist simulation and in a Sony dvd player it shows the subs always, like ignoring the sprm18 value but in a PS3 and in software players it worked great.
Got any idea?

A bit late but anyway. :)
My suggestion is, first always turn subtitles OFF, then do the checking of SPRM18 (player's subtitle language, set by user) and if the value matches your GPRM language value, let the script jump to the end (leaving subtitles turned off). If it doesn't match, it'll go on and execute the next line – the next line should enable your subtitle track.
However, keep in mind that this will enable the subtitles also if:
SPRM18 reports 65535 (undefined/unknown/OFF, software players do this a lot)
and if
SPRM18 reports 0 ("OFF" in player configuration, not every player has it).
To catch those you'd simply add two more lines that skip to the end if SPRM18 reports either.
