View Full Version : MPC: "Shredding" Artifacts in .AVIs

I always used MPC until six months ago or so, when I downloaded VLC. For some reason, after downloading VLC, there has been a problem with my MPC where there are these odd speckled lines creating a "shredding" effect on the screen:

This only seems to happen with .AVIs in MPC. But MPEGs and other formats seem to not have the issue.

Does anybody know what's causing these lines to appear, and how it can be fixed? Thanks in advance.

It's set to "VMR-7 (Windowed)".

Is that what it should be?

VMR7 is a relic. Try the one I've selected in the snapshot. Make sure to update DirectX and your video and audio drivers. I assume you're using Win7?

Well, I tried all three "EVRs" (I assume that that stands for the "Enhanced Video Renderer" that you have checked), but that didn't remove the "shredding" artifacting.

Can you tell me how I'd update my video and audio drivers?

My OS is still XP, sadly.

Give this a try http://www.devicedoctor.com/device-doctor-download.php

What are you using the resizer option? And I really suggest you stick to EVR-CP. Since they all work I presume you have the .net framework necessary to support EVR.

Okay, I'll be trying this soon and report back when it's all downloaded and installed. Thanks!
