Hi,

I had this issue both with an old Samsung and a recent one.

1st Setup:
Samsung UE46C6200 -> optical cable -> Teufel Decoder Station

2nd Setup:
Samsung S51E6500 -> HDMI ARC -> Marantz S5006

I use the internal media player to play mostly mkvs with either DD or DTS.
The problem occurs when playing two files in a row and the audio codec changes from DD to DTS or the other way around.
The tv then always switches the SPDIF output setting to pcm.

I didn't find a way to force the tv to always use DTS and DD and prevent it from switching back to PCM.

I think the problem is not setup related but a problem of the internal media player.

Did anyone see the same behaviour or, even better, knows a solution?

Thanks,
Apfelstruhdl

Maybe it's in the settings, check everything there. For both devices.

I know the behavior and I don't think it can be changed, unfortunately. At least I haven't found a way.

I was suffered from the same behavior, and the same case was also occurred, I found no way to change such behavior. This was the main reason why I bought dedicated media player despite the TV could play almost all of my media collection. I remember firmware upgrade didn't solve the problem either.

thanks i was afraid of that.

i contacted the samsung support.

did anybody dig deeper into firmware expert options or alternative firmwares? i remember, that for my old samsung there was a 3rd part firmware available, never tried it myself.

Don't count on anything from Samsung support. They seemed not care enough to TV firmware. They don't even provide the change log when they release new firmware.

If you want to try third-party firmware by yourself, there you go, SamyGo (http://www.samygo.tv/).
