Installing AVSPMod and AVISYNTH

Could someone help me please?
II have been trying to install AVSPMod 2.3.1 and AVISYNTH 2.6 into my Windows 64-bit computer.
According to instructions, the filters in the plugin folder of AVISYNTH are supposed to load automatically and so are scripts ending in avsi.
Also when i select AVSPMod "options" and selecy "Associate avsi files withAVSPMod I get the following error message:

I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

That's right. Did you use the AviSynth installer (http://sourceforge.net/projects/avisynth2/files/AviSynth_Alpha_Releases/)?. Even when using SEt's builds you need to run first the installer.
Also when i select AVSPMod "options" and selecy "Associate avsi files withAVSPMod I get the following error message
Run AvsPmod as admin (right click) the one time you need to make the association. Next version will ask for admin rights instead of failing.

Never worked for me even when launched as admin...

I have tried deleting both AVISynth and AVSPMod using Revo Uninstaller Plus and then reinstalling them. I have Right-Clicked AVSPMod as admin. It refuyses to work. Is it something to do with the Versions I am using? Everyone on Doom9 seems to have no trouble with this. I am perplexed what to do next.

I think the file association should be fixed in the build I posted above. Anyway you can also just use the 'Open with' option from the Windows Explorer contextual menu and select AvsPmod as the default program. Is the .avs files association your only issue?

Thank you vdcrim. I am sorry for my ignorance. I am using the AVISynth installer I think. I Googled AVISynth and downloaded what it found. Is there a better, more efficient link?
Also, I am not certain what you mean by Windows Explorer contextual menu. Could you please explain this. Much appreciated. I am determined not to be defeated by this.

I intend to download the latest AVSPMod v2.3.1 (13/8/2012) from afterdawn.com and hope it will work for me. Any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, currently vdcrim is an AVSPMod developer. if his build didn't worked for you, i doubt that afterdawn thing will help. Why would you download such software from anywhere but not more or less official sources anyway? Though I think you may be doing something wrong because it certainly worked for me. Did you even tried build that vdcrim posted?

I tried instaslling AVSPMod using vdcrim's method. The AVSPMod "options" and select "Associate avsi files withAVSPMod" works now. However I cannot drag and drop videos into AVSPMod anymore. Any suggestions?

you should only start as admin once to register file associations...
