My quick 2cents:

pros:
-a curve editor (GUI) for ramping
-ability to edit optical flow motion vectors
-a GPU accelerated fork (Nvidia only)
-optional motion blur
-wide format support (ffmpeg based)
-free & open source

cons:
-same issues with typical optical flow software like twixtor, mvtools2, svpflow - ie. morphing edge artifacts

How does it compare to existing Avisynth tools as far as artifacting is concerned?

I didn't have a chance to do a more extensive side by side comparison yet , but it seems to have problems with the same scenarios where mvtools2 fails (and twixtor). Certain types of motion (especially rotational) are poorly predicted . If anything, the edge artifacts seem to be worse with this than mvtools2, but I'm hesitant to draw conclusions on a few clips tested - these are just initiall impressions
