I have a clip that has the strangest interlacing that I have seen. It seems to be neither telecide nor interlaced. What the heck is this?? It looks like some of the frames have interlaced artifacts. I'm not sure what to do here. Yadif(order=0) seems to work but the lines on the floor behind Jubilee still flicker upon playback. I'm wondering if this clip is repairable at all. Any tips/info would be appreciated. Thanks.

It looks like a field blended conversion.

It is. Which makes me assume it was PAL before, maybe 25p. But it might have had some conversion even before that because we can't say for sure how it became 25fps. It could have been native 25p or is was converted to 25fps (maybe interlaced) from something else like 23.976. :confused:
It is indeed strange, I still get tons of blends using SRestore(frate=25). Frate=23.976 is even worse.

Srestore cannot help with this. If you look at the naked field sequence (or bob), you'll see that there are many consecutive blendings. It looks rather like a ConvertFPS-style framerate conversion.
Srestore is mainly a smart-decimator, it can only deal with blend/clean/blend/clean sequences. If there are blend/blend/blend/blend sequences, Srestore is the wrong tool.
If it really should be ConvertFPS-style, then, maybe, something could be gotten out of RestoreFPS. However, Anime is a difficult thing to reckognize the true problem in the first place, due to the plenty duplicate frames in the original source material(s). It could just as well be a combination of two different conversion steps, in which case you could fiddle with RestoreFPS until the end of time, without getting something usable.

What is a field blended conversion? My guess is... instead of deinterlacing and changing the frame rate by blending the frames, whoever made this didn't deinterlace and simply blended the fields in order to convert. Is that right?
Assuming that I am correct... I would have to determine what field rate they converted it from in order to even attempt to reverse this, right?

Tried manually freezeframing after an attempt at field matching, IMHO return this DVD and get your money back. This is the kind of source you should not pay for, but rather be paid for by the production company to watch...
