I have a few blurays that I'm trying to convert to BD25 size, however they keep failing within a couple of mins. The log:

I have been using this program for a long time and rarely have issues, but can't work out what is wrong here?
I'd appreciate some help, especially if I'm doing something stupid!
EDIT: I've installed the latest version, uninstalled and reinstalled ffdshow, media splitter and avisynth and still the same...
EDIT 2: Actually the error is slightly different now:

:)
However I do seem to be having another error now...
"Failed to build structure, aborted"
This seems to happen a lot, and I can hit backup again and it seems to go past the same point, but will happen again later.
This is especially a pain as I leave my PC doing the backups overnight and look in the morning and it's aborted after a short amount of time.
Is this something else I'm doing/not doing? Am I still being stupid lol?
There's nothing else in the logs, just the above error

Post the ENTIRE bdrb logfile there is info in it we need, but based on the previous ones your settings are fully set. And when you post the logfile, DO NOT remove / edit the source folder name. Jdobbs and the rest of us NEED to know the discname.

Nah that's fine, the main thing is that its not a preprocessed source. The folder name looks legit, that is why its important not to edit a log, some users do it because they're using such a source and those are excluded from bug reports. Now, that F: drive is that a bd drive or a harddisk, it looks like the drive "disappeared " somewhere during the processing

It was a virtual drive (Daemon tools), so I am in the process of copying the files to my HDD and then will try the encode again. However when I first had this problem, it was another disc and was not a virtual drive, although once I restarted with that disc it carried on (until the next error anyway), unlike with this one where it won't go anywhere.
Do you think I perhaps have 2 issues here?
Thanks for the help

IMO if you must/want to use a virtual drive, there is no match no slysofts FREE virtual clone drive. Although it does not support as much formats as daemon i personally find it superior. Perhaps there is an issue with the daemon drive. If it is an ISO, you could try VCD. The bottom part of the log from your last encode is missing from the log though, the part with your ffdshow settings etc...

The ffdshow settings are still not in it so i still can't see if it is Configured properly. check one of your previous posts and you'll see what i mean. Do you have any codex pack installed? Have you tried removing all helper also completely including deleting the folders after uninstalling and reinstalling bdrb and helper aps?

[for some reason I keep posting blank posts?]
I copied and pasted the whole log, not sure why the settings aren't listed?
What is all helper?
And I thought bdrb was a standalone app rather than installed? Am I being stupid?!

When in doubt, check with the first page of this thread where you download BD-RB for any and all instructions. ;)
Avisynth, ffdshow and haali are the necessary "helper" apps. When you experience a problem as you have, uninstall those three apps, reboot and reinstall them and try again.

Just tried the disk again, and it gets all the way to the end, and when it does the final multiplex, it fails!

You could try removing any subtitles to see if they are the issue.
Also, you could try tsMuxeR GUI by itself, by loading the playlist for VID_00002, and see if that works. If not, deselect unnecessary audio and subtitle tracks and keep trying until you have tried all options.

I can't get past the above now, just keeps failing... I have no idea what "metaextractor" is -- but whatever it is I'm guessing it is interfering with BD-RB.

I'm not using an overclocked system, although I can if that would help?
No subs on the disc
The metaextractor error doesn't appear anymore, probably something unrelated (couldn't find info online for it)
Ran the same disc overnight again, seems to fail each time it gets to the multiplexing:

If you're not on an oc system then don't. That can cause issues with x264. So stay normal. But that said, then I'm out our ideas. One thing it could be is a corrupted source / rip. Other than that i don't know anymore.

No. You need to load the playlist (.mpls) for the associated m2ts (if you want the chapter points).
BD-RB will tell you what the playlist number is if you set it to movie only. Just look at the available options under "Mode", Other movie-only Playlists. Or, you can also use BDInfo to see all the playlists/m2ts files on the Blu-ray.

Load that playlist into tsMuxeR GUI. Select a new folder and Bluray for the output and deselect any audio and subtitle streams you do not want and see if that completes successfully.

Perhaps BD-RB does not like your original source. If you only want the main movie for a backup, run BD-RB against this new source you just created and see if that works.

As you know, you have a setup problem. Something you installed or some program has overtaken what BD-RB needs to work correctly. :( Finding out what can be frustrating!
Uninstall haali, ffdshow and avisynth. Reboot. Check your add/remove programs for any codec packs that may be on your system. Remove them.
Reinstall those three programs.
Delete the entire BD-RB folder you have been using. Unzip a fresh one and make BD-RB create a new "BDREBUILDER" configure settings file. Make sure you follow the instructions on the first page of this thread.
Run "Inspect" from the BD-RB folder and make sure all is OK.

Ok I'm going to try that again now...
2 question: When I enable MPEG2 decoding in ffdshow, do I select libavcodec or libmpeg2? Or doesn't it matter?
Also, any ideas on programs that may interfere? It used to work and don't think I've installed anything recently...
EDIT: ok actually 1 more question! How do I get it to create a new config file?
EDIT 2: Did you just mean deleting the DVDREBUILDER.INI file and starting again?

It doesn't really matter, but you have to pick one - don't leave it unassigned.

Any program that handles video files may cause a conflict. This can be a hassle to track down.
How do I get it to create a new config file?
Did you just mean deleting the DVDREBUILDER.INI file and starting again?
Just delete the previous BDRB directory. When you unzip a fresh copy of BDRB, then run it for the first time, it will automatically recreate a default config file and ini file for you.

RobertM

AnyDVD Remove Annoying Adverts: Incompatible
This means that when you rip a disc with AnyDVD it will modify the disc contents somewhat, removing certain streams. It doesn't matter that AnyDVD isn't running while you run BDRB, because the changes were already made when the files were written to HD by AnyDVD. This can be considered to be pre-processing, so it is best to turn off that option in the AnyDVD settings, and let BDRB handle the removal of small streams.

Ok, good to know. These discs I had issues with weren't ripped using anydvd, but I'll turn it off going forward... thanks
RobertM
16th August 2012, 21:41
Just to be clear... Inspect.exe is only looking at the current settings of AnyDVD. It doesn't know what the settings were when you ripped the disc, nor which program you used to rip the disc. But if it finds AnyDVD on your system, and also finds that it has an "incompatible" setting, then it reports that finding.

Hi!
I have loads of discs to backup and no space on my HDDs Possible source of problem?
RobertM

Possible source of problem?
He said previously that he had 120GB free. That's not a lot for BluRay work, but it should be sufficient for a single rebuild. BDRB will create it's work-in-progress image, then rewrite to a new BD structure before deleting the image, so I would expect that only 50GB (2 x BD-25) would be required (I'm just guessing here, but I'm probably not too far off). Unless, of course, he has to fit the rip too, which could be 50GB, so that would eat up most of the available space.
But he could probably try moving some files off to another drive, giving himself some additional breathing room (maybe 200GB free, or so) and see if the problems persist. It would be a good thing to test.
jwjohnson
17th August 2012, 04:39
I'm guessing it uses more than that. If he has a full rip of a 50 GB disc. He'll end up at least another 50 as it demuxes everything. Then you have to have room for all the stuff that gets newly encoded. Which will be close to 25 GB. Then you've got to remux everything and rebuild the Blu Ray structure. I would guess it uses closer to 100 GB. I would really like to see what happens if he frees up another 100 or more GB of space before trying it the next time.
RobertM
17th August 2012, 05:12
Yep, that sounds quite plausible. I forgot that the de-muxed files would be at around the original sizes, not the target size. So, really, 120GB sounds like it might be a significant bottleneck.
My target drive is not the same as my working drive, so I have less of a headroom problem. But when either gets down to 250GB or so I do some housekeeping to free up space.
Tripledrop
17th August 2012, 16:14
Well I'd be stupid not to try that, so I will, but I normally run at about that sort of free space with no problems... I'll report back again
Tripledrop
18th August 2012, 22:11
Woohoo!!
I just finished a successful rebuild!!
Turns out that the metaextractor error was related to Samsung AllShare (for my mobile phone)... I had uninstalled that program, but the extractor remained somehow. Once I removed this, worked perfectly!
I'd like to thank you all for your help, and especially your patience!!
Edit: Only issue seems to be that I chose BD25 as target size, and it ended up nearly 27Gb?
