Problem copying Lord of the rings DVD

Hi all
I am attempting to copy a LOTR DVD to my hard drive There is no encryption, but several of the files refuse to copy. I have tried three different DVD drives, with the same result. The disk plays fine on my Scan 2000 player. Have the files been got at so they can't be copied on a computer? Ideas anyone

I only have disk for a few more hours.

Hi-What are you doing? Dragging and dropping? Have you tried Smart Ripper, DVDDecrypter, etc.?

And where did you find a DVD of LOTR since it isn't yet available to buy?

I had the DVD of this movie a couple of weeks back. Its a dodgy copy from Malasia. The quality sucks. The problems you are having are probably just 'read errors'. This is common on the 'do-it-yourself' dvds. Just ignore the errors and continue ripping.

Not necessarilay a dodgy copy...LOTR is out on dvd, DVD quality, *not the situation where you get a guy running into the cinema with a camcorder*...but a big scratch on dvd made it impossible to salvage last 10 minutes of the movie...tried Vstrip and still no go, works fine in dvd player though...i wonder if i can take it back for a refund

i don't believe lotr is out on DVD yet.its only been out at cinemas for 6 weeks and is still racking in the bucks.why would they release it on dvd so early???

Yes, i have seen one dvd of lotr and is was really good quality - a lot better than many other major releases unfortunately as that may be - amazing what being friends with a cinema owner can do for you :)

i have not tried to rip this dvd ( it not be mine :( ) - my only suggestions would be to change dvd drives and use vStrip and/or dvd-decrypter. On a couple of movies i own ( both pr0n ) that i just couldn't rip the last vob out of, only one drive ( out of the 3 that i own ) worked in combination with vStrip.

just rip it like normal through smartripper.
Its probably just a re-encode of the svcd copy.
