Hi all. I hope you can help a frustrated soul.

I have a pentium 4 1.6ghz 512megs of ram. Asus MB, ATI Radeon All In Wonder. Ultra ATA133 7200rpm 80 Gig Maxtor, Pioneer 106 reader, Pioneer AO3 burner. Sweet Huh?? NOT!

When I go to do a full res DVD capture in ATI's TV media, I still have frame drops. Plus over a span of a few minutes of capture, I develope lip sync problems, and it gets progressivley worse as the capture is longer.

My question is...just what the hell more do I need to get the job done?? I'm at my wits end, I already spent thousands on this system. Am I going to have to toss all this out and get a MAC??

Please........any comments or advise would be appreciated.

I'm sure it's only the wrong settings for your capture card that cause these problems - but as I don't have the same card, somebody else must help you here.

btw. you're not saying that you capture a DVD? DVD's don't need to be captured, the files can be just copied ("ripped") onto HD without any quality loss!

The only device you may be missing is a DVD-ROM. This is a device in your computer that you use to transfer DVD vob and ifo files to your hard disk for manipulation.

Check out http://www.doom9.org/dvd-structure.htm in Doom9's DVD Basics section.

Sorry I wasn't more specific in that respect. I am just trying to capture an SVIDEO signal in. In this case I'm capturing TV content from my satelite reciever. You know, just to get a decent size .mp2 file to start off with. I eventually will be capturing video from my VCR in an attempt to transfer my home movies to DVD. But I can't get past this stage because, like I said, I get (dropped >1% frames), plus over 3 or 4 minutes, the .mp2 develops lip sync problems that worsen as the it goes along.
