Hi guys.
I can't go anymore around and to listen other people how they convince people that and that player is the best and has the best video quality. I used: BS, VLC, GOM, KM,... Recently i start to use MPC HC. It was accidentally. I used KM with belief it has the best video quality. One day some video did not work very well on KM and i started with MPC to see will it work and i was spellbound how picture was much better!
I instantly uninstalled KM and installed LAV filter and MPC HC x86. Those days i read some other player has better quality or there are some additions for MPC as madVR, Reclock, SVP etc. I am totally confused. I need help. I do not planning to read pages and pages if there are someone who can resolve this mystery and to tell me do i to stay on MPC HC, what to install and how to configure.
I am newbie for those things but i do not prefer to much to research about videos. I just want to configure and enjoy in the best video quality :).

What are you asking us? What is the best player? You can't ask that here and nobody will answer that.
So refine your question to something that can actually be answered.

I am asking which player to choose to get GOOD video quality.
Is this GOOD video configuration for MPC HC?
http://imouto.my/watching-h264-videos-using-compute-unified-device-architecture-cuda/
I do not know about those things. I just want to configure video performance and to leave it and watch it.
@diply
Yes, do the stuff from that link. You may need a decent cpu and gpu though...

And which splitter to use it? LAV, Haali, ffdshow (i think i count all)? How to set-up them for the best quality? In mpc-hc>options>internal filter> both windows i have to turn off when i want to use some external filters, right? How much are different between those splitter?
Now i refine my questions.

If you want very simplified explanation:
If you have video file, it contains video, video have some specific quality. It should look the same in any player if the player is not broken for some reason. There is various tricks but you obviously not ready for that. You should learn about this stuff step by step and then decide on your own what will be best for you.
Start from something small. Get LAV+MPC-HC both x86. No need for anything else. mpc-hc>options>internal filter> disable everything. Then try to play some video. It works? If yes - you have your quality. Next step would be learning what every option in mpc-hc and LAV is used for. When you'll learn that - you will know what to do next.
EDIT: about the link you found. its pretty nice configuration guide, however I think the part when they say to add filters to MPC-HC external filters is an overkill. I don't think it will do any harm but there is no good reason for adding any of the mentioned filters. Also ffdshow can be omitted completely. It only adds unnecessary complication level.
P.S. ffdshow is not a splitter. you need haali only if you deal with ordered chapters. if you don't know what is that - use LAV

You are completely right. I start to use LAV + MPC-HC 2,3 weeks ago :).
Can you please tell me are these configuration ok?
You mean on this? All those formats to turn it off? I selected some of them but i turned off now.
One question here. People who wont to use any spliter or whatever (yea, i have to learn what is what :) )... they select all here? But for what is options > formats > i can select/unselect there too.

The default settings of LAV are fine for most people. Only thing you would usually change is the type of HW Acceleration used, which you changed to DXVA, so thats all.

That's because the video is interlaced and is not being deinterlaced. Either enable software decoding and enable YADIF in LAV, or figure or enable hardware deinterlacing for your drivers by going into CCC video settings and enabling by checking: Use Automatic Deinterlacing (though unchecking it and selecting Vector Adaptive produces the best quality if your hardware supports it.)

Your CPU and GPU can probably handle madVR which has inbuilt deinterlacing and generally looks much better than EVR. DXVA is only necessary if youre struggling to play back some files.
If you do switch to madVR enable aggressive deinterlacing in LAV Video; I've found that sometimes the deinterlacing fails to activate automatically.

As fairchild stated, that video is interlaced and to make it progressive you have to use deinterlacing. Best option for this, as stated, is to use your gpu for deinterlacing. For hardware deinterlacing to work, you have to disable DXVA2 in LAV decoding filter.
If you want to keep DXVA2 enabled, then enable YADIF software interlacing in LAV settings. Hardware deinterlacing (especially vector adaptive) is clearly superior though to software, such as YADIF.

diply, great thread of yours. I myself have also felt lost in this jungle of codecs and how to easily set optimal picture.
I believe most people are at this level of knowledge regarding what codecs/filers etc to use, and a sticky of this thread would probably be a great idea since noobs will always look for a simple optimal setting for their system.
Especially now since I just recently got the tw9000 (6010) epson projector colors and contrast etc is more important than ever.
I've had this problem with a slight yellow tint and I "installed" the madVR filter for windows media player classic - home cinema. I have always had the k lite codec pack installed and did NOT have to uninstall anything.
All I had to do was download the madVR filter and extract the files in zip folder to a folder in program files which name you choose yourself. Then in that folder click the .bat file and voila, your madVR is working in media player. You simply have to choose madVR in properties in your player as default renderer (option becomes available in player after .bat click install).
Now the yellow tint on faces is MUCH less, almost gone. I am not annoyed by it anymore and so far I must say the change is amazing.
I do still wonder how to configure it further for complete perfection regarding colors and contrast etc, even though it looks great right now.
I have no idea where to begin. As I said I have now managed to set madVR as default renderer and that is an accoplishment for me by it self. :)
Since madVR outputs in RGB 0-255, you have to set your video driver and display to RGB 0-255 too.

How i read this is normal. Thank you for the information.
From time to time in some of videos i have problem when i seeking backward or forward. It is very slow. It delay 1-1.30sec. Sometimes this happen on very low res. and sometimes on higher res. i.g. 720p, 1080p. I clicked and turn on/off everything in MPC HC. Now i think this problem arouse LAV filter. Can it?
I never had this problem with BS player and KM player but i had with GOM and now with MPC HC. But then i use k-lite codec pack.
btw i still on some video has interlaced picture no matter i set what you told me :(, But this videos are rare and not so important.

I have problem with wmv. Sometimes those files are playing as slow motion and some of them are delay as i mentioned above (other files .avi, .mkv are sometimes delay too). When i click ctrl+j it shows LAV decode wmv file.

use "Codec Tweak Tool" and use "Fixes" section.it may be able to fix that

I do not have solution. I do not have idea what to do. MPC-HC with some reason doesn't work sometimes with .wmv files. Then i run with Windows media player and it works perfect! It is lucky for me i do not have a lot wmv files but anyway i want to know it works good with all kind of formats. Just tell me where to try to change something, please.
