View Full Version : Bit Exact Output in MPC-HC

With the video side of the house "done", I'd like to attack the audio. Currently I'm just outputting to DS renderer and I know I can do much better. I have two restrictions though, I have to be on XP and it has to be in MPC-HC. I have Reclock installed, but my options are limited. I can't use WASAPI in XP, and Reclock doesn't support ASIO4All. That leaves only KS, which I've heard is very buggy in Reclock. I have a high-end Xi-Fi card so hardware is no issue. Is there anyway to output to ASIO in MPC-HC (does there exist an ASIO renderer?) or is there some way to "install" WASAPI on XP (impossible Im guessing?) If no to both, what are some other ways to achieve this? Thanks so much in advance.
KS works well for me under XP. 5.1 96/24 LPCM to HDMI audio.
And you can't:
- use ASIO under MPC-HC. There are only 2 options for 'bit perfect': bitstream or ReClock/KS (meaning XP);
- use WASAPI under XP.
If you're really want that ASIO, you may pay attention to jRiver, but its not free. Also, I've heard that winamp has video player with ASIO support, but I'm not sure its good for video playback in general.

Thanks man, have enabled KS with Reclock and am more than satisfied. Still clogging my ears out though from first trying to stream 32-bit float to the sound card! Ffdshow output at 32-integer and Reclock at "same as source" works great though. Apparently the Xi-Fi card will take anything up to 32 bit integer at seemingly any sample rate, pretty good card. Plus the Xi-Fi apparently has hardware mixing - even during a KS session I can play other sounds!
But.....you guys may want to note this!:cool::cool: Someone actually made a ASIO dshow filter!!

Install this, along with an ASIO driver like ASIO4all, and you have ASIO in MPC! It will show up in the Audio Renderers list and it will work like a charm. But since its options are more limited (& quality should be identical) to KS/Reclock I'll stick with what I've got.

Thanks, ENAJonas. I'll try this :)
Not sure I got the point, but pay attention to this: "ASIO4ALL is a low latency ASIO driver for WDM audio devices that uses WDM Kernel-Streaming". So, if its the same KS really, I would prefer ReClock/KS.

That's a good point, probably why I can't tell the difference at all in both sound and behavior! For sure if the underlying protocol is identical then I'll stick with Reclock since its much more configurable and also does more than audio!
Btw - I assume this is normal but when KS in MPC the volume change "response" is slightly delayed. It's of no concern but just wondering if everyone has this.
Yes, you can adjust the volume level in ReClock by MPC's volume.
