Hello.

I have a collection of 500 songs in FLAC format.
I need to decode all of them to .wav files (because my receiver can't play flac). I am assuming it will be a lossless (bit exact / perfect) operation. Is this right?

Ok, so what would be the best method to do this?
Can eac3to do it? What would be the syntax? I can't do it one by one, I mean, there are 500 files... I would like to do it them all at once.

Thanks in advance.

on windows use foobar2000, or from cli make a loop around:

flac.exe -d file.flac

(yes it will be lossless)

The basic version of jetAudio will convert it http://www.jetaudio.com/download/ The program is as easy as ABC. I use jetAudio and lameXP for all sound convertions/burnings.

I'd also use foobar2000. Simply open the entire 500 flac files in a single playlist, highlight them all as you would using Windows Explorer, right click and select Convert, then use the wave file preset (maybe run a test encode on a few files first to see how foobar handles the naming of the wave files before you commit to doing the lot. The file naming method can be changed by editing or setting up a new conversion preset).

Only downside is foobar2000 will convert the same number of files simultaneously as you have CPU cores, so if you have a quadcore CPU or more, be prepared to give your hard drive a bit of a workout.
