I've been getting severe lagging when watching videos in fullscreen. It doesn't seem to matter how intense the video is - even a 320x240 Xvid video will lag in fullscreen.

Here are two screenshots to show that the green and red lines (especially green) go crazy when I enter fullscreen. The spikes in the graph correspond to lag spikes when watching the video.

I said EVR-CP in the title, but it actually happens on all renderers and all decoders I've tried. My laptop should be fast enough to handle these videos. It's a Phenom II 2 GHz quad-core, and I'm decoding with DXVA using Radeon 4200 integrated graphics.

It happens on all of my laptops but not on my desktop, which is running an i5 2500K @ 4.6 GHz and Radeon 6950. I'm wondering if this is a memory bandwidth issue with integrated graphics. Hopefully someone can look at those graphs in my screenshot and know right away if there's something wrong with my configuration.

Some more info:
- Vsync makes no difference
- decoder makes no difference
- VMR9 and madVR also lag
- VMR9 lags in 3D mode but not 2D or plain surface mode

Downside of using VMR9/2D is that I no longer have DXVA.

Try: View-> Options-> Renderer-> Reset-> Default.

Works best if you have Aero enabled.

That doesn't help. Plus, the renderer should already be configured properly since even with a fresh install of Windows and MPC, I still have the same problem.

I think VMR9 2D vs 3D is a big clue. 2D works perfectly fine.
