UPDATE: I've resolve this problem - after deinterlacing with QTGMC (just with default settings), it removes nearly all of the erroneous fields in the interlaced source, leaving a partial white outline which is not really noticeable when playing back after processing. So, I'm happy enough with the result - I guess I could use some other kind of post-processing after deinterlacing to remove the white outlines, but I don't think it's worth the effort!

I haven't had any major issues with any VHS captures for quite a while now that I haven't been able to resolve by just reading these forums and / or picking up an appropriate VDub or AviSynth plugin from some internet searching. But now there's this, and I'm out of ideas, and haven't found anything relevant.
My suspicion is that it's a dodgy tape - I actually have two others produced by the same company and they exhibit the same problems. Anyone seen this before, and been able to resolve this? Answers on a postcard (or in a reply to this thread!)
