Hello

I've recently bought a DVD and I want to preserve it.

I want to make an DVD image to save on harddisk and

also have the DVD video made into AVI /MPG etc

would anyone suggest me the best program to do so? Thank you!

I am looking for freeware because I am not frequent user. Thank you!

Please remember rule #12:

Anyway, if you just want to backup your DVD to your HDD, then the easiest way is to create an ISO image. It's lossless and fast to do. HDD space is cheap anyway.

Good old DVD Decrypter is your friend here. If DVD Decrypter doesn't work, because your disc uses one of the newer "protections", you can use the free version of DVDFab HD Decrypter.

Not exactly sure what you mean with "DVD video made into AVI /MPG", but if you want re-encode your DVD, you should use H.264 (preferably stored in MKV or MP4) nowadays.

The number one H.264 encoder is x264 and there are numerous front-ends available:

You'll notice with a review of kenny1999's past posts that he repeatedly walks all over the forum rules, including and especially in this case the very first one.
