Problem with IFOEdit~!

As a recovering perfectionist of the worst type, I'm building an mkv movie library as an exercise in letting go of small details! There are several sources on the web detailing how to use VOBEdit and IFOEdit to JOIN both halves of a film that spans two DVDs.

While I've had absolutely NO trouble achieving the expected result with VOBEdit, my experiences with IFOEdit have been frustrating to-date. While the setup is as-expected, the program "processes" the VOBs VERY quickly and doesn't show ANY Audio Tracks in the final result.

And while the following step, using MakeMKV to assemble a single file fails dramatically, the problem REALLY seems to lie in the prior step, with IFOEdit. I'm using v0.95, have regenerated the VOBs several times, but am completely baffled by the result.

Does anyone have any experience or advice they could share?

Not sure why the VobEdit/IfoEdit method fails, but why don't you use the Append option of MkvMerge to join two MKVs produced by MakeMKV from your DVDs? IMO, it's the easiest method, and it works very well.

While I appreciate (and will try) your suggestion, I prefer the lower-level approach of joining before conversion. Thoughts as to where else I can go on support for IFOEdit? Thank you!

IfoEdit is abandoned since years, so I doubt there are still possibilities to get answers from the author. And, IMO, the best place to get help is here. However, I suggest to rename your thread to something more descriptive, such as "VobEdit's Join Clips drops audio streams".

I have used the Join Clips method to join several short clips in the past, and it worked fine, except, of course, if the streams are not compatible. For example, joining an AC3 stream with a DTS one cannot work. So, one requirement is that both DVDs must have exactly the same streams, in the same order and with the same IDs.

Are you sure the audio tracks are present in the new VOBs? (You can check them with VobEdit.) If it's not the case, that means that the streams have been rejected during the VobEdit pass, and IfoEdit does its job fine.

Another low level approach would be to demux all streams with PGCDemux, and remux them with muxman. You can append them during the remux operation.
