Hi
tried to play 1080p (all with overlay mixer) win XP:

1) mkv 1900 kb/s (plays fine)
2) mkv 8000kb/s (plays fine but only with the above render...if i want my subs, with the other renders the frames keep blocking and freezing...)
3) 9000kb/s (starts to play but stops a few seconds after...)

Any settings I can try out (if they are possible) that can make visual success on playing theses files i would truly be gratefull .

thanks

Time for a new notebook, and Windows 7. 1080p at 8000 kb/s or more is to much for your PC.

But if the 8000 file plays well (taking off the subs detail), with a few changes on the rendering settings could i not expect for more?

You can try a subtitle filter that connects to the decoder directly, so that you can use overlay mixer and subtitles. xy-vsfilter (http://code.google.com/p/xy-vsfilter/) is pretty decent at that.
