JVC HR-S9400, choosing audio track. (What is A+B+Norm?)

Hi.

Since I have a tape where the stereo track i damaged, I've had a look at forcing my JVC to use the mono track.

So far so good.

I can choose these settings:
A
B
A+B
Norm
A+B+Norm

Norm seems to be mono as far as I can tell, and A+B regular hifi stereo. But what is A+B+Norm? Some kind of mix between stereo and mono tracks?

A and B are the monoaural tracks of the "stereo" track when transmitting bilingual programmes. On "normal" TVs you'll hear eg Spanish on the right and English on the left, or German on the left and French on the right, or English on the left and descriptive English (for blind people) on the right. Otherwise, for normal tapes, it's just another name for L and R.
Normal is the name for the linear audio track all VCRs have.
A+B+norm means the sum of all 3 sound sources (mostly the norm is mono).

Yea, you are absolutly right. I should STFU and RTFM. I don't have the manual, but I'm sure it's out there, somewhere, as a pdf.
