Optimal deblock value?

HI !!
As I see often a rips marked as quality rip having deblock value 1:-3:-3 which is not encoder default, I would like to know if these values are really better than default 1:-1:-1, and if so if they are better generally for all sources or if there's a rule of decision between these and defaults depending on some source characteristics, thanks.;)

use presets. they have optimal values for different source types

You mean --tune film and --tune animation? I use them and they give deblock values 1:-1:-1.
But!!! I see many rips around with quality mark having these overriden to 1:-3:-3.
I'm just curious if this override has any proven improvement.

x264 developers have better knowledge than some internet pirates.

Okay I thought so also :) but was curious about the reason of so wide popularity of this tweak. I think this can be considered solved unless someone comes with another opinion.

In the young days of x264 (pre-AQ, pre-trellis, pre-everything) there was good reason to lower deblocking for high-quality encodings.

The reasons have vanished, the myth persists.
