Dual Language AVIs

I read the guide first, so don't just point me there please. :)

I have a movie with two VBR audio streams, English and a director's commentary, currently muxed into one AVI file. I would like to burn this movie on a CD and make it playable on any system that could otherwise playback Divx by using the GraphEdit method. While testing on my hard drive, everything works as it should, except that when loading from one of the graph-AVIs, it takes about a minute to load (starts the player then waits), gives an error about not being able to find the file, then plays exactly like it should. Normal? Feature not a bug? Ideas? Is this related to something in DirectX 8.1 and graph pathnames that I read something about in the subtitles forum -- the files are on currently in I:\, not C:\...?

you may give 'morgen stream switcher' at try. it's a plug-in for the wmp6.4 which allows you to switch audio streams.. works great here..

I find that the easiest method of having multi language Divx is to have the other languages as seperate sound files, and use MicroDVD player to play it. I tried all the ways to get the multi audio avi to work, and found that if I wanted anyone to be able to play it, then the MicroDVD player method is easiest.

There are some good Launchers out there that can detect and install the Divx codec, mp3 codec and MicroDVD player. You can even set the player to automatically play in the second language.

The downside is that you can only play the end file in MicroDVD player, and you need to learn to write an ini file for MicroDVD. There are some good guides out there for MicroDVD player, and it also comes with really good documentation, so this process should be relatively simple.

did you remove the absolute path names in the GRF-files? (Can be done with a little tool called "RemovePath" (2 kb), I'll send it to you if you need it.
I haven't been making dual-language-movies with the Graphedit-method for a long time, and I heard of improvements in Graphedit, also the ability of setting it to relative path names - but I didn't test the recent versions, so it's only what I heard of. So perhaps removing the absolute path names hasn't be done anymore, and your problem is another. It's strange that it takes so long to give you the error message, and then still works... Perhaps you should try it on another machine with Mediaplayer 6.4? This one always worked fine with my movies.
I switched to ZoomPlayer, because it has much more features and is simply better than MediaPlayer. Although I don't like having to install software on the "client's" computer, the advantages of ZoomPlayer (with a size of only <600kb) are worth it.

Thanks all for the help. I personally have MSS and ZoomPlayer installed on my system and have made a MDVD setup for this movie, but since I loan my movies to my friends, some of whom wouldn't be able to install AIM if I wrote them a 10-page guide, I like to make things as simple as possible, and the graphedit methoed seemed the easiest. I had removed the paths with removepath, but that still gave me the error. I suppose I'll just use a seperate audio file for the second language... that way anybody who doesn't have MSS or MDVD won't be bombarded with two simultaneous audio tracks. :)

But it would still be nice to be able to just make graphs that anybody could play.
