Hi Potplayer users,

Note: See this post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=165743) that explains why potplayer related topic are gone from doom9. Direct link toward skins package is here (http://st.free.fr/phpmyvisites.php?url=http%3A//fred.gaou.free.fr/Potplayer/PotPlayer%2520Skins%2520Package.zip&id=244034&pagename=FILE:PotPlayer/PotPlayer%20Skins%20Package.zip) but the history post is gone...for now.

Install: Just copy the dsf files you want to test or use in the skins folder under potplayer installation directory. Don't forget to install provided fonts on your system (just google how to install fonts on Windows if you're a very noob)

I'm happy to announce that my skins will always be available to download here (http://fred.gaou.free.fr/Potplayer).

There are English and French version and foreign users can now easily translate this skin.

As my [+] skin has evolved since the first release of my PotPlayer in French (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=162038) in 2011/07/25, I would appreciate that users give me a feedback by participating to the above poll ;)

Note: Tooltip on button may display as xxx | yyy. It means the button has 2 commands : left and right mouse click separated by |.

Translators: Just edit the PotplayerPattern.ini file and post it here.

Very slick and nice looking skin. If I ever decide to give PotPlayer another whirl, I'll be sure to give it a shot. The only reason I'm not using PotPlayer atm, is because I can't seem to find a way to get Lav Splitter to work with Blu-rays, it always loads it's own splitter even if I add Lav Splitter as preferred filter.

Hmmm. What do you have to do aside from adding Lav Splitter to registered preferred filter? When I do the open Disc/DVD method, it always loads the BDMV I believe it is called splitter.

I think the major problem is users can't read useful informations even when they are written in red at the top of the download page (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1559326&postcount=35). There won't be no problem at all with EN [+] v1.0 if you learn to read !

2 - written in red at the top of the download page:"Note: Install the fonts provided in package to use skin v.1* and above or they will display weird"
now you look at this pic:

I just tried your skin and 1.0 works the best for me and has the most features I use. (particularly the extra A-B buttons) The only thing I've noticed so far, any files that have AAC audio, don't work or you didn't add a skin for that format. Not sure. :)

:D:D:D Ok, easy guy! I'm not angry, it's all fine. Nobody wants to hurt you. So the problem is not you can't read...but you are dyslexic (you wrote 1.0 instead of 0.1). ;) It's just a joke.

I'll post a fix update in a few minute. [Done]

AAC audio works fine here, I just tried an MKV with that. The problem may come from splitters/filters. I use the integrated one and it works.

Just checked and you are correct. Simply changing Lav Splitter to the stock one it now displays properly AAC. :thanks:

Just out of curiosity,
would it be "too difficult" (or "not recommended") to use the custom fonts without installing them?

FWIW, I have a *Not-So-Old* ;) screensaver which creates a .FOT file when its default font is in the same directory ( "./" ) :helpful:

If there is a possibility now or in a future to use custom font without install them I'll take it. But AFAIK, the potplayer skin architecture doesn't have this feature. But I may be wrong.

Custom Potplayers Icons are only available for x86 version. Dowload PotPlayer 1.5.32007 x86 stable - complete french release 2012.02.23.zip (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=162038) then extract PotPlayer.zip and copy PotIcons.dll to your x86 Potplayer installation directory.

And for the + tab instead of *new album, it's due to french localization choice, not to the skin.

I hope I answer your issue.

thank you, I'll check it this evening

It's great - I changed only few things:
- the Close button on the playlist closes the player instead of the playlist
- on right click on stop button - rewind
- on right click on audio track select - subtitle track select

Thank you very much for this great skin! I've just discovered it and didn't know a skin could be so powerful/customizable, things like transparency, control via playlist, the different modes etc is all so nice to use. You must have put in a lot of work on this, it should be the default skin.

Skin update 2012.05.11: minor changes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
v2.2.1 (2012/05/11) only for those who experimented problem in audio skin
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+ fix: time display in audio skin was limited to 59 min, now limit is 9:59:59 (useful for podcasts)
+ add tooltip for file infos in skin audio (bit rate, codec, etc). kbps text has been removed because it took too much space and broke display in some cases (aac with variable bit rate)
+ visual audio synchronization is available in control box to Sub./Synch./right click

The zip you provide seems to have duplicated files and 7Z hangs trying to unzip. I was able to select individual files so I got it to work. Great SKINS!!

My only question is can you provide details on where to save the skins - ie can I put them in their en folder under skins?

And where do I put the fonts for them to work?

Thanks again!

Just install the fonts on your system if they are no installed yet.

The current zip have no duplicate files and is extracted fine with 7zip according to my test.

Only dsf files are loaded fine by potplayer when placed in skins folder.

do you need more help?

sorry for answer delay

Your skins are great! The only issue I have is the 2 buttons on the playlist that navigate (scroll) different playlists (top right) are too small. If you compare your skin to the new current default skin you can see the difference. Let me know if you understand what I am trying to say.

I don't know if its possible with POT, but if you could make the scroll wheel move those tabs the same as firefox works than that would be ideal.

Yes I don't like those buttons too. Unfortunately, the scroll wheel can't work on tabs. So I thought about it and as we have to deal with those buttons and the space on their right can be reduced, my purpose was to save space for tabs and avoid them being cut or hidden. If you switch between the default skin and mine, you'll notice that you can see more tabs on mine. In some case, it saves you from having to use the buttons to scroll the tabs since you can just click on the part of the tab you can see. I guess those little buttons are good for people who have just 4 tabs so they will never have to use them. For other people that have more tabs and often switch between them, bigger button are better. But I don't know what solution is better for the majority of users. I need more feedback from users about that to make a decision about buttons size.

The best solution would be potplayer has the same feature as a browser, allowing users to scroll the tabs and sort them by drag and drop. Users can send a feature request to developer by e-mail: ahahlive [at] hanmail.net

Just post here if you do this so we can follow this issue.

Hi,

I just made a little update of the v3.0. see first post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1560439#post1560439).

Video Skin:
just move the subtitle button

Audio skin:

Add background to spectrum
Change the behavior of info display when resizing window
The passive skin seems less empty

I just updated 2 screenshots (the main audio and video skin).

I sent him an email asking for that and a few other items and he wrote back and said that is not doable within his code set I guess.

He also was not liking my other suggestions which are on the order of what FB2K does with audio files - track number of plays, last play date and a ratings field. Too bad as those would really set this player as the best.

Thanks for your feedback.

I understand his answer about the audio features you'd like. Potplayer is firstly a powerful video player and secondly a good audio player for a common and quick use. For advanced audio users that have more demanding needs, they will look into a more powerful and dedicated tool such as fooabar2000 which is perfect for that. Sounds logical to me, Potplayer has its own purposes and are different from foobar.

Otherwise, too bad for the tab feature...

I know those are audio features - but guess what - if you have a HUGE VIDEO library with 10s of thousands of clips that you watch whenever, then tracking that info works exactly the same as audio playback - you want to know if you watched the clip, when, and how many times and be able to rate it. So that when you review a list years later, you have better info on what you might want to watch again. I have been collecting clips since before DSL as I had a T1 at my house. I have a nice separate search function but it is not integrated into the media player - it would really be a great feature.
