How to hardcode .srt subtitles to .mkv?

Hi. I need to hardcode .srt subtitles to .mkv and I know this means re-encodeing but thats ok. I tried to use the latest version of Handbrake but this does not allow .srt subtitles to be "burned in". I allso tried to use MKVMerge GUI and muxed the subtitles in the .mkv and then used Handbreak to burn in the subtitles contained in the .mkv but that did not work...

Do you own some of those annoying TVs that can't handle MKVs with internal subs? Have you tried external SRTs? If you really need burned in subs, try Staxrip.

MeGUI will burn in the subtitles while encoding. The place to add them is near the bottom of the Filters tab of the AviSynth Script Creator window. If you haven't used MeGUI before it also has a "one click" encoder which I think will also let you burn in subtitles, but I never use the "one click" method myself so I'm not 100% sure.

Personally if I need subtitles I always burn them in, then I don't have to worry about players and if they'll be displayed.

Yes I have TV that can not handle subtitles muxed into mkv, I have to hardcode. Can U give me a small tutorial how to use Staxrip?

Rename the SRT file to the same name as the MKV and bingo :)
