DVD Disc Printing Software?

The utility to print on DVD discs that came with my printer is very weak. I there any good (preferred free) software out there for printing on disc?

I would like to use any background image, maybe even wrap it to fit. And I'd like to print text anywhere on the disc, in any orientation.

Any suggestions?

Memorex has free software - I don't know if there's a template for printable disks, but the software itself is very easy to use.

You might also check the sites of the makers of printable disks.

i'd start with something that has some decent "vectorial" font handling ability, maybe open-office with a proper template, maybe inkscape with a proper template, maybe google-docs with a proper template.

You might also check the sites of the makers of printable disks. Thanks CWRO3. I checked them out and it's pretty old software (for Win 98 - XP). I downloaded the manual and there is no mention of direct to disc printing :(

... Good idea smok3. I do have a photo editor but I'm really looking for something more automated / easier for the task.

While searching for Memorex, I looked at:
Surething (https://www.surething.com/ST/Category.asp?CatCode=ST5_HOME)
which seems to do everything I want, and it's a reasonable price.

I also looked at:
Audiolabel (http://www.audiolabel.com/cd-label-template.html)
which seems OK, too, but doesn't support my printer.

What do you folks think of them?

I'm using Canon CD Label Print 1.4.1.
A simple tool, but does all I need.
You can calibrate it for almost all sizes and misalignment of the discs.
Don't know if it works for your printer.
I've got excellent results on glossy and nonglossy blanks.

It's an HP Photosmart Premium 903a and their label utility is bundled with the printer software. In a nutshell, it sucks in features, which is why I'm looking for an alternative.

Do you mean the 309a? A quick search shows that Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker supports the HP. It also supports my Epson, and although Epson's software works pretty good, I may give Acoustica a try (it has a trial version, then you pay $22).

I advice against Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker. It has problems with some basic operations. For example if I'll make some changes in printer settings from within program, they are ignored.
Instead Acoustica use other settings (even not these that are default for system). It also does not provide a grid (only an align option).
Maybe (I hope) these issues will be corrected in future versions, but this program was not updated since 2010. I stick with Epson PrintCD.

And yes, I have paid version of Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker (I regret).
