Guys, as mods don't always read all threads, you can feel free to "report" a post or simply ask a mod via PM to approve it (as setarip_old has done). We are always happy to act on such requests right away. With the sharing sites getting a bit dodgy these days, attachments here are a better thing, IMHO.

When uploading an attachment is there a way to add something to the page to the effect of "if this attachment isn't approved withing x number of days, please report the post or PM a mod" or something similar? (Or is there something like that there now? I don't know as I've never added an attachment to a post)

It's just that I think most people (well I did anyway) would assume when adding an attachment there would be some sort of "behind the scenes" notification to alert the mods to an attachment which needs approving.

As you said, with sharing sites becoming less reliable these days, uploading files as an attachment instead makes sense, but ironically I think one of the reasons many people do the former rather than the latter, is the latter can put a hold on continuing a discussion or getting help for several days while waiting for an attachment to be approved.

At the same time as you post an attachment, simply report it by clicking on the red, white, and black triangle and submit a simple message, such as, "Please review attachment and, if deemed acceptable, please make it available for downloading"

jrip seems to think my DVD drive is a virtual drive. I do have daemontools installed, but removed the virtual drive and rebooted. jrip still thinks the dvd drive is virtual.

Jrip30 eliminates virtual drive(s) for the reason that virtual drive cannot be a taget source drive for RIPPING.
But JRip30 seems to wrongly recognize your drive as a virtual drive.
So I modified the code.

I'll soon upload JRip31 as an attachment in DOOM9.
As my desktop is running on Windows XP SP3, I have no way to check whether JRip31 will work on your desktop.

Please try when it becomes available.

Now I'm not sure that JRip31 will work on Windows 7 SP1.

@junq, Thank you, very much for the update. jrip31 now detects my DVD drive.
I do seem to be having a problem with the resulting ISO file working with handbrake. Handbrake is not detecting the first title as valid with ISOs created from jrip31, they do work with an ISO file created by dvddecrypter.

I understand that you are not debugging issues with handbrake. With that said, there must be a critical difference between the jrip31 ISO and the dvddecrypter ISO for handbrake to work properly with one but not the other.

Appreciate your detailed report, and in a sense I'm happy to know that JRip31(Beta) recognized your drive.

Needless to say, I've learned a lot from DVDDecrypter as a role model which has kept excellence from the beginning.

On the other hand, regarding DVD ripping, different and tough issues keep coming.
Recently, even DVDDecrypter doesn't cope with encryption algorithms provided by Sony and Disney.

Acocordingly, one thing is certain from the difference that Kingpin is not encypted with new encryption algorithms,

Nonetheless, even in the age of blue-ray, DVD is still interesting and enjoyable. Learning, learning, and learning.

The most easiest way to pin down the difference is to get the same DVD as you own.
I tried to find the DVD (KINGPIN - id:2e84a80a) but I couldn't find it in the net surfing.
Considering that contents and encryption seem to be different from one country to another, I have no way at present.

Looking through the handbrake log, it seems the issue comes the library libdvdnav used by Handbrake.

On an ISO created by jrip31, I see this in the handbrake log file:
libdvdnav: DVD disk reports itself with Region mask 0x00000000. Regions: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
ERROR: dvdnav: Read Error, Expected NAV packet but none found.

On an ISO created by dvddecrypter, dvdnav does not report the same error.

JRip31 clears region mask automatically, but there are DVDs, particularly for region 1, whose region mask must not be cleared.
DVDDecrypter has an option for RCE protection.
