audio lasts 2 minutes longer than video stream =(

hi there

well i have a little problem:

i wanted to encode ghost in the shell (in german), but cant use my video source (old vhs).

so i took the audio from vhs and the video from a french dvd, but the audio stream lasts 77:57min and the video stream 75:40min =(

so anybody got an idea how to mux this (sync!)

i allready clipped the audio...
...but when it 's sync in the beginning it will more and more desync in the end =(

i tried to change the frame rate of the video stream, but though nandub accepted the new frame rate (was 26.093 instead of 25) it didnt change the length of the video (as it's supposed to be, right?)

have you tried synching the audio with a program called Avi Info?

once installed right click on the avi, click avi information and click on the synch audio tab. it allows you to stretch the audio to fit the video by any framerate you desire.

I've had the same problem when I redid the edited a home movie by splicing in an audio source that was recorded from a professional system, with my home camcorder. What happened is VHS does not play perfectly and the same everytime. I mean think about it, If the machinery inside spins the tape .1% slower than another VHS machine it will be off by a couple minutes at the end. I fixed it by using sound forge, and stretching the time of the audio by a raito proportional to the length of the video. Get your calculator out, its a little math,, but if the video is thing long:

ALl you need to do is streatch the audio out by like..1/40th and you have a synced audio. You just have to hope that the VHS tape that you got the audio off of was off by an even amount the entire time.

It worked alright for me, but at some points the audio was off by a split sencond, but of course it ended at the same time. Give it a try, I'm not sure what the option is in sound forge, but the name is obvious. If you need sound forge 5.0 I may be able to...er...yeah....you know, give me a private message
