can anything play BD iso images and show menus?

I have been trying to find something that will play a bd iso and show menus. This is just a couple of episodes of tv that I recorded (for now), so no encryption, region locking etc.
I tried creating the structure with multiavchd, but 2-3 rips always have something wrong and I'd like to preview without burning more coasters.

My searches have not turned up anything useful.

powerdvd 9 won't play a mounted iso image, even though I found some instructions saying it would. MPC-HC and VLC will play the structure (not as an iso, though), but don't show menus.
BTW, I did create my isos with imgburn, using udf 2.5

PowerDVD 8 will do it, if you can find it anywhere.

Any PowerDVD will play mounted ISOs when you rip the Bluray with DVDfab and let it create a miniso file.

While I think it's generally a good idea to fool the SW players into playing a BD from the HDD (a feature removed for copyprotection reasons), I fail to see why a new, incompatible, format was needed for technical reasons (I see however the marketing ones). Couln't DVDFab Virtual Drive recognize the BD structure and apply the patch on-the-fly?
