View Full Version : Shameful that Slysoft is shameless!

"jdobbs" is too much of a gentleman to comment about this, but I will:
Read the following Slysoft Forum thread in its entirety:
http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?p=331291&postcount=1
When you've finished laughing, get just a little angry instead - and ask yourself (or maybe "Peer" and the folks at Slysoft), "Whatever happened to 'Give credit where credit is due'?"

I'm not familiar with jdobbs, so which bit are we looking out for in particular?
As for your "comment" about this, whatever that is, you've just posted a link then posed a question.

Hi!
Naah - Read the ENTIRE thread...
Uhmm...nope...
still not getting it.
Read it twice, now.
Looks like they've deleted the interesting parts?
I haven't ever seen them censor anything at SlySoft. That happens more in the DVDFab forum, so I don't think so.

Please, follow at least the rule #9 of this board.
The title means nothing and your posts don't help either.

Frankly I don't believe only one thing (the thread looks like changed in between):
No company EVER ignored the competition. EVER. Especially when free or cheap or at least in the same price range. I don't think any of the developer at Slysoft simply ignored the alternatives, be it Clone BD or BD rebuilder. This simple/innocent lie is enough to bring suspicions upon them.

If you're talking about the trailer removal part there's a small but vital difference between AnyDVD and BDRB. The way anydvd's works is that it removes them virtually and on the fly and is a neat feature for those that watch blu-rays on their HTPC's, that is something BDRB can't do. BDRB needs to rebuild the entire disc in order to remove those things in a setting that's still experimental, but leaves you with a permanent backup without trailers. Another difference between anydvd and BDRB is that with anydvd you have NO control over what gets "deleted", the only thing you can set is a duration limit and that's it. Everything below it gets "removed", with BDRB you have control over it with the preview option. Oh and last but not least, check your facts before you accuse someone.
AnyDVD had the feature to skip annoyances on Blu-ray discs since May 2008.
I believe for HD DVDs we had it right from the start of AnyDVD HD.
For DVDs it was introduced before 2004, I can't remember when.

Since my initial post does not seem to be understood in the way I had desired (That "jdobbs" be acknowledged for providing Blu-ray "menu & movie" capability as well as removal of small files, earlier than Slysoft), I hereby ask a mod to delete this thread.
Thank you.

I'm curious. What is this all about?
Are ou talking about the SlySoft thread? Something being modified? I do have mod rights there and I would see if any post would have been deleted and usually it is also clearly visible when a post was edited (to everyone).
And still I see no evidence of anything being changed there - yet, I still fail to see what this talk is about.
Will anyone be so kind and bring me up to speed?

This doesn't make any more sense to me.
What is everyone talking about? Is this some secret code?
All I can see in that thread is some talk about a rather minor feature I chose to add recently, that will block out short, annoying sequences from Blu-rays. A feature that we had before (since 2008?), but that didn't work well enough on BD-J titles and now has improved that way.
I really have to guess very wildly: are we being accused of "stealing" some superb idea from someone else?
Since setarip_old is still on his quest of badmouthing windmills...uhh.. I mean SlySoft because of something bad that obviously happened in the past between him and us (or so...) I believe that must be what this is about.
If passkey or whatever already had this feature before (I don't believe so), then, well, bravo. If not... it will soon, now that we have it. And so what? Some people choose to copy ideas, other have them. Basically: it doesn't make much difference. The users are happy either way.
Honestly, we don't spend much time on watching the competition and tracing their steps. And I agree, we should be doing more of that, but there it is. We don't. We do our stuff.
If somebody else (who is jdobbs?) had similar ideas, let me know. Maybe they did it better and I can benefit from that to improve our approach.
Otherwise: omg, what's your problem?

@Peer
Read post #9 here. Much ado about nothing, so I've requested that my thread here be deleted.
Regarding your parenthetical question, "If somebody else (who is jdobbs?) had similar ideas", he is the well-known developer/author of the freeware "BD Rebuilder", as well as the earlier "DVD Rebuilder" - and he's the moderator of this subforum...

Well, I never EVER heard of a company in any field that ignored the competition.Neither Peer nor myself have ever used BD-Rebuilder or DVD-Rebuilder, although I have heard good things about these programs. So I don't know if these programs offer automatic skipping of annyoyances on Blu-ray / HD DVD / DVD, and if they do, how they accomplish the task.
In other words, I have no idea, what Mr. Setarip is talking about.
I was not intended to be an attack to Slysoft, despite I never used any of their products. Really, I never ripped a BD, and for DVD s I still use 2003 solutions that work for 2011 movies as well, maybe because they still need to be compatible to DVD standards :).Will anyone be so kind and bring me up to speed?
That was the point, nothing else. I can't comment on any products or companies, I just made an obvious observation.

I've requested that my thread here be deleted. Can't do that now that others have posted in the thread, without getting their permission.
