1...Can you re-encode a 3D blu-ray film down to BD5 or 9 [AVCHD movie only]? If so, will they work in 3D BR players?

2..This is prolly a no-no, but can take a normal blu-ray film and convert it to 3D?

Thanks.

You can by using an encoder that supports MVC ( http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiview_Video_Coding ). Some other member please say what encoders support MVC. In any case, you will have to use the BD9 format and not the AVCHD format. I don't know if it will work with 3D Bluray players, this can only be verified by testing.

Most 3D bluray players (software and standalone) have a "2D to 3D" conversion feature, but the result is usually unsatisfactory.
