3D Bluray - removing audio tracks/unneeded data?

Hi all,

ok so its been quite some time, but I've finally moved onto purchasing my nice new 3DTV.

I've tried searching for answers for this but as the terms "remove audio 3d bd iso" etc are very vague get next to no proper results

I have bought a handful of 3d blurays, which I want to transfer to ISO (or extracted) formats for playing on the HTPC.

I've discovered that extracting from ISO format results in much larger files due to the unusual way the 3d iso's are created.

So in order to save some HDD space I'm trying to find a way I can rip out a lot of the unnecessary stuff, as they have several HD MA DTS tracks in foreign languages eating up a considerable amount of space.

So....is there anyway I can remove these unneeded tracks? I dont need to edit menus etc, just remove the unnecessary audio.......and of course keep the file size down (so presumably kept in ISO format would be necessary).

I don't want to convert the video to mkv etc formats as I'd like to keep everything lossless. I don't mind if doing so would result in losing the bluray menus and only play the main movie.

I can't for the life of me find any guides for how to do this with 3d isos, however I did find some scene nfos that referred to a movie, where they added some additional (french) tracks to the movie by request....so surely this must be doable?

Is it possible?

You can't edit 3D discs yet. You can only edit the menu or remove 3D completely and keep only 2D. This with free software. You can edit them, if you have the resources, with BD ReAuthor and Sonic Scenarist 3D.

I guess then that these scene groups most likely have access to the expensive apps to do that (and from memory of years back with DVDs, I recall Scenarist needing more or less a degree to understand and do the basic of functions :))

I was trying to avoid the subject itself....hence no detailed mention but passing references, but just the fact that i'd seen mention on sites that tracks have been added or removed meant it must have been possible somehow. So I guess it is possible......but obviously not on a freeware path. Searching generic terms gives lots of results it's unavoidable to see reference to them, but it lead me on the track to think I could remux them myself

I wouldn't mind buying the right apps that were made.....but obv not the professional tool apps.

Hopefully an affordable remuxer of sorts will be released some time soon

It took a while until the first freeware to reauthor DVDs appeared, and then the specs were not so tightly guarded as today, besides no DMCA and similar laws existed.
Have patience, this 3D thing, as it is today, will be changed again, once the new TVs will appear. Like the old red-blue glasses principle, which almost disappeared as a 3D format.
