Hi guys.
Bear with me on this one as my memory is quite bad. Basically I've encoded all my CDs to AAC using Nero AAC CLI, and remuxed them with tags using MP4box, however I did not use the -ipod switch, as I wanted bog standard files.

Recently I bought a new stereo for my car, a fairly high end one which plays said files. It plays them fine (448kbps or so), but there is a slight hiccup upon starting playback. Basically it will play about half a second of the song, pause/stop for another half a second or so and then continue playing it with no problem. The head unit itself has a decent CPU as it is powerful enough to play video (Pioneer MVH-8300BT), so I don't think the issue is being caused by excessive bitrate, as my previous car stereo was really low end and handled the files with no issue at all.

The reason I come to you guys is to help me pinpoint the problem. I have emailed Pioneer notifying them of the problem and have told them I will carry out some tests to find where the problem lies. I suspect it's to do with the muxing more than the encoding.

I do recall something very vaguely that atoms can be stored at the beginning or end of a file? I think it may have been the tag data or uuid, something like that. As I said my memory on this is really hazy now so I need help. If this is true, then I wonder if MP4box has put the tag data or whatever at the end of the file and this is what's causing the playback to pause, while the stereo seeks to the end of the file to get the tag data.

I'm going to make some sample files now, but if anyone has any knowledge to share it would be really appreciated.
