TsMuxeR corrupes video in .M2TS with .DTSMA

Maybe it's just me, but it is the firsttime when I had to use a DTSMA file, all others being AC3.

Since it's a bug it may belong here -> http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=134104, but this thread has 200+ pages and tsmuxer has not been updated since 2008. Besides this is punctual issue, whose solving may be of benefit for many users.

The story:
- I have the .H264, .DTSMA, the original .SUP and a new subtitle .SRT files.
- muxing them back with tsmuxer (or multiavchd) yields a .M2TS file that has corrupted video frames every second or so. Tested on two players and on PC (VLC, smplayer).

I thought first that this was a bad burn, it isn't, the files on PC behave the same. The .H264 file plays perfectly in SMplayer (it should). There is not a bad rip, just a bad mux.

Moreover, I demuxed the video part back and performed a binary compare to the original one. Not a f***ing diference. So it must be the muxing part.

From the aforementioned thread one can learn that tsmuxer solved the HD audio issues.

Also the existing guides on adding subtitles to BD restrict themselves to AC-3 sound, or downconvert DTSMA to AC3 or DTS core etc etc etc.

What do you use to put back a Blu-ray with HD sound?

I discovered the cause.

The original subtitles had a problem. I removed them from the mux and everything went normally, both on PC and standalone.

But it's really strange that the muxing of defective subs made the video look defective, even in places where were no subtitles.

Congratulations on finding it--I have observed that corrupt subtitles cause other bizarre problems e.g. with run-length and/or chapter locations, and tsMuxeR doesn't report any issues in its log. Hadn't heard of this one but it's good to know.

Well, it took my whole weekend to find out what was the cause. I was almost disperate when I wrote this topic this morning. Actually the idea was taken out from the bugs-thread, despite linked there to another issue (conversion from HD_DVD IIRC).

I don't know what defect had the original subtitles, there were no entries in the log, and VLC/smplayer showed them fine, also with no entries in their logs.

My first issue took a little while to realize, but not a whole weekend. Now that it's happened (I fiddle with subtitles whenever they're SDH or don't fit a 2.40 program for example) I know to look for it. I don't recall that I've ever had any other problem with tsMuxeR, at least not that wasn't my fault making .meta files or something. But this failure of the log to show any issue is a problem too of course.

The only other "game in town" is EasyBD Lite it seems, but I've had nothing but trouble the few times I tried it.
