All audio streams are labelled - English

I started ripping my DVDs onto my computer and decided to use H.264/AAC in an MP4 container as this allows my kids to play the videos via their game consoles without any trouble and I can keep the dual audio.

However, while the dual language is available (English/Japenese) during playback, both audio streams are called English in every player I have tried. The second track is Japenese, it is just labelled English.

Is their a way to edit the file to change the name of the second audio streamto Japenese?

Just remux the mp4 files.

I guess it'd be nice if you could tell whatever software you're using for converting the DVDs to use the correct language label in the first place (what program are you using?), however for a remuxing GUI try YAMB (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/YAMB). I don't use MP4 much so I don't use YAMB much, but it has an option to set the language for each stream which I assume works as advertised.

I sort of remember a thread regarding a new GUI for re-muxing MP4s but maybe I imagined it because I can't seem to find it. I only looked for it because YAMB (at least when compared to doing the same job with MKV files and MKVMergeGUI) is somewhat slow.

Maybe is a player issue, considering that every player represent the game consoles :confused:

In case it's not, you probably left the things go automatically without double-checking the settings. Does the DVD itself identifies as "double English"?

I am not referring to the game consoles as players, those are just for the kids to play the video. The players that I have used include my PC players (WMC, WMP, VLC, Media Player Classic, Nero, VRD Player). If I play the DVD the languages are listed as English and Japenese it is just the MP4s that list the languages as English and English. As I said, the second track listed as English is Japenese audio it is just the name that is wrong.

I have created the mp4s using difference programs including AVS, VideoRedo, and Handbrake.

I read somewhere that while the MP4 format does support multiple audio streams it does not support language names but I am not sure if that is correct or not.

MP4 does support language names (otherwise MediaInfo wouldn't bother to list any language), though I don't know how to set it in HandBrake.
For your already encoded files go with what Gser and hello_hello said, i.e. remux your files with mp4box (YAMB) or L-SMASH etc...
