Hi, im having issues with this player on w7. Even when i just open the player itself it takes a couple of seconds to load.
I have CCCP installed. When i open a video the player goes black for a couple of seconds and then the video is played. Also when i exit the player the sound is still playing for a second or two.
I have dual boot windows 7 and xp. I have no problems on xp. videos are played instantly and also dont have the issue when closing the player.
My specs are there:
phenom II x4 3.2 ghz
4gb ram ddr3
gtx560 ti
So im sure its not because of hardware limitatation.
I was gonna get rid of mpc replacing it with VLC placer but this player seems to have some problems when playing mkv files. Id also like to know if theres a way to configure vlc to be able to play mkv correctly. the problem with this player is when seeking using the bar time. It doesnt stay on the point i clicked on. It goes further or further back and even worse, some times the player repeat random parts of the video. Id appreciate your help

Considering your computer specs, you are doing something horribly wrong software-wise, MPC-HC runs perfectly fine on hardware much worse.
First off, the only way to fix VLC is to uninstall it and never use it. You'll thank me later.
Secondly, MPC-HC takes a few seconds to save settings if you use the option to save settings to a .ini file, so that may be the cause of some things.
Thirdly, make sure there is no custom settings in the Nvidia Control panel for MPC-HC or globally setting things like the overriding of application settings and enabling 16xAA anti-aliasing, all this will do is mess up a lot of applications and make your CPU and GPU do extreme amounts of work.

Everything on the Nvidia cp is set to be configured by the third party program. As i said before this doesnt happen on windows xp. My gpu and cpu usage is very low even when opening 1080p videos. Once the video is open theres no problem at all like audio and video not synced. Its just when opening them.
Edit: I didnt mention it before but i have CCCP installed

Takes a couple of a fractions of a second to open the player on my netbook.
You might want to format and install a fresh copy of 7.

Have you tried running it under the "XP compatibility mode"?

i think it works faster but now because i have aero activated every time i open it the screen flicks and the theme is changed to basic. Now even though i disable the compatibility mode it still flicks and changes the theme to basic

It's probably your security software, what is your virusscanner?

Personally I gave up on CCCP because MPC-HC will play all the usual formats using internal filters and playing video that way gave me fewer issues (I'd occasionally have audio sync problems, especially when playing MP4s for some reason). I still have ffdshow, Haali splitter etc installed, but I installed them all individually. Mainly to use for encoding.
Try going into MPC-HC's options and enabling all the internal filters CCCP disables (all source and transform filters) then see if it behaves itself any better. If it does that might indicate the problem's with an external codec or splitter. You can easily return it to the default CCCP state by running the CCCP configuration thingy from the appropriate start menu shortcut.
I recently tried PotPlayer (very briefly) and while I prefer MPC-HC it doesn't seem too awful so far. Might be a better choice than VLC.

I had similar problems, especially with MP4 files, playback was 300-500% slower, and the delays when opening or seeking were _much_ worse. Here's a relevant ticket on sourceforge: Ticket #1682 (https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1682)
What I did is
a) installed LAVFilters (splitters only)
b) disabled MPH-HC's internal source filters (all of them)
c) added "LAV Splitter" to MPC-HC's external filters, and set it to preferred.
Since then, playback is smooth -- I just have to use the LAV splitter to switch audio tracks.

Bitdefender Do you think thats the problem? because i have the same antivirus on my xp partition where MPC runs perfect

Try uninstalling it and running mpc-hc, is it faster?

The only thing thats really slow and gives perceptive wise a bad image is closing the options dialog and how long the io stalls it ;)
also i think it would be better to have more free floating UI (if its needed @ all it should be dynamic nothing should block anything where possible especially not the player interaction) instead of fixed dialogs that take away the focus and stall the player interaction as well like the Render/Filter information display Properties ect if you need those details and configure options (filters) @ the same time but still interact with the player its more or less impossible currently (current state you can have mostly 1 information but not several @ the same time without interfering with the players current interaction model).

survivor_evil, when you open a video in MPC-HC, what items are listed in the Play-> Filters menu? (e.g. Default DirectSound Device)

EVR Sync
AudioSwitcher

Definitely not a default. Use the settings app to reset settings (checkbox on the second page), and then re-check. Also, a file->save log log off of the CCCP Insurgent troubleshooting application would be nice.
Also, I would recommend that you would push such support requests related to a certain package and not vanilla components on the package's support page(s) :) Not to mention that the support forums in our case do not require registration for playback support.
(Just because I usually don't watch such threads much on Doom9, and people might not know what kind of set-ups a given package might prefer)

Heres the log file i got from the cccp insurgent app
Also i uploaded a video showing what my problem is. As you can see opening, maximizing and minimizing the video is laggy. all this is immediate on windows xp

Was the a warm or cold open? A bit slow (possibly because of the W7 animations) for warm opening.
Resizing is SLOW though!
MPC does resize in a fashion demonstrated by that video, but that should take much shorter period of time.
My netbook beats that resizing speed...
Also use ALT-ENTER it is much better.
Id avoid stuff like LAV, anything CUDA, madVR and UAC/Back Ground Scaners, and bad Nvidia Drivers.

even disabling aero it does the same. Beside I have a GTX560 ti video card, this video is nothing for it. It was a warm open, doesnt matter if its the first time opening it, it does the same.
How do you disable LAV splitter? It really annoys me that I have the same programs installed on xp but it runs immediately

Since Doom9 needs someone to accept your attachments, you generally don't want to use the feature, but a pastebin of your choice, and then linking it here.

Are you still running EVR Sync, which I bolded down in your Play->Filters listing (and which certainly isn't a default by any measure)? I told you to reset settings in the settings app and re-check the listing. Thus please close MPC-HC, reset the settings, then re-open the file and tell me what is listed under Play->Filters.
How do you disable LAV splitter?
You don't, I guess he was meaning LAV Video's CUVID decoding or something else that can actually have something to do with the resizing problem. There is currently no better splitter for mp4|mov, flv, mpeg-ts, which is what we enable it for.
If you still are unsure, if it does the same with a Matroska file it is not using LAV Splitter, but Haali's, which should pretty much tell you that the splitter is unrelated.

The renderer is irrelevant if MPC already loads slowly when not playing anything.
Two known causes:
1) It takes MPC a long time to check optical drives. Can be disabled with: options > player > disable 'open disc' menu
2) Your virus scanner is the problem. Put mpc-hc.exe on the whitelist.

Yes, towards loading itself it doesn't matter, but it seems like it takes time for him to get to full screen mode etc. as far as I look at the clip he posted (or I'm seeing it incorrectly). This would actually be related to renderer selection, methinks. Plus I think EVR Sync was actually never recommended and thus it would be a relatively good recommendation for him to stop using it if he is getting problems with switching screen modes. This of course can also be related to drivers and such as well.
The actual loading time seen on the video seems relatively fine'ish for me, though.

Yes, I reset settings, now EVR is not in the filters list but still have slowness with MPC

Not only resizing videos but also opening them as you can see on the video.
I reset setting and now EVR Sync is gone but the problem persist.
I highly doubt the antivirus is the problem. Ive put the mpc exe file in the white list and it doesnt work. As I said before, on windows xp i have the same antivirus running and theres no problem at all.
Just to be sure i reformat my partition with windows 7 where i made a fresh install of cccp with the same negative results
