View Full Version : "Pink" problems beyond 3DNow?

Anyone else seeing this issue on Intel hardware? The last two builds have both had the same problems I imagine cropped up on with 3DNow enabled cpus. It's an old coppermine slot1 PIII @ 600mhz. Granted the source is poor for DVD, but the problems are *really* bad.

2 pass internal with the H.261 quant motion precision 5, no lumi mask(1300MB target).

Everything goes magenta, and then snaps back at the next KF. Same thing happens with/without Xvid decoder.

I've been using Nic's builds (thanks Nic :D ), problems only occur with builds from Feb 6 and Feb 7.

Now for the interesting part, manually setting appropriate cpu optimizations (MMX, int SSE, SSE) clears up the problem. I hadn't bothered to originally as it isn't an AMD chip and doesn't even support 3DNow. No biggie really, just wanted to give -h and Nic a heads up :p.

After some more trouble shooting and installing 4 different builds and testing the output, the Xvid decoder is working fine now. The output is still hosed using the DivX4 filters. First I've heard of this with the h.263 quant. I might have used two different builds for the first pass/second pass so the problem is most likely just on my end. It looks like the DivX4 filters dont' like my mutant creation :D .

Yeah I get that pink stuff as well (see http://rilanparty.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16324) and I'm using a P3 500. No problem with the codec, just with DivX4's playback filter.

This is because, to put it briefly, DivX was "rounding" (although its more than that) wrong & because xvid came from the same source it too was rounding one, making it compatible with DivX4.

However, the guys at videocoding.de realised the bug, corrected it to make it MPEG compliant. Unfortunatly though it makes it a bit less compatible with DivX. :-(

Hopefully, it will get fixed soon (by the DivX folk),
Cheers,
-Nic

Well, i lost my 2/2/2002 build :(
All the movies i already encoded (only 3...) were perfect, no pink problems anywhere, but they were all made with the 2/2 build.

Could someone send it to this mail, please :

rui_tecedeiro@yahoo.com

I would be very gratefull
