DVD's and stripping, no I'm not being perverted!

Just curious... Say I have an original DVD. I rip it to the puter, into all the vob files and such with the intention of burning it back to a DVD-R. If I strip the extras, menu's, subtitles etc... leaving only the main movie, will most movies fit onto a single DVD-R without the need for further alteration? I didn't know if some movies were actually larger than the 4.7gigs, the main movie that is. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi-Probably a bit less than half of the movies are under 4.7 GB with everything but the video and the audio of your choice stripped out. There's still quite a bit more than that involved in creating your own DVD though, and you might want to check out Doom9's guide on the subject.
