Is there a downloadable technical spec for the TrueHD format like there is for ac3 and eac3 or somewhere where the format is documented? Or is it best to just look at the source code in ffmpeg/libav? I'm looking to add support for it in delaycut but I know nothing about the format.

I'm not asking about ac3 or eac3. I have that spec. I'm talking about TrueHD. Thanks for the unhelpful answer.

I missed the 'like there is for' part of your post. Not a reason for profanity though. Remember rule #4 please...

from what I read so far its not possible to make changes or cut within the TrueHD track...but I hope that its still possible and just no one has figured out how so far.
you can try to pm madshi, he should know at least a bit of TrueHD stuff.

Cutting should work with mkvtoolnix and maybe with eac3to.
Or since its lossless, you might as well decode, edit and then encode to FLAC.

for more infos I think you need to apply for a licence.

TrueHD is much less common than DTS-HD MA. I you want to add support for lossless audio streams I would think starting with DTS-HD MA would be a better starting point.

Yeah I've seen that but that doesn't have anything useful in it like header format, etc.

Read the second sentence, too, that concerning the money :)

That's why I was hoping someone had maybe created a spec from reverse engineering the format like when support was added into ffmpeg. I guess I'll just go with reading the ffmpeg code.

You can also ask madshi, author of eac3to.
