Why is the front page no longer updated?

I used to regularly read the front page for news, it's been a few years since it was touched

Does anyone know why?

Probably because Doom9 is too busy in real life to do so.

I appreciate that, but often the front page of a site like this will be updated by a few contributors and not just one person.

Still, this website is a great resource and the forum content is fantastic

I guess I owe you an answer on this.
The assumption made here is correct - it's mostly a time factor.
For many years, I've been the only contributor to the news. Even though we have a news forum, contributions depended on my being there to write something.

Personal issues, mostly job related, have not left me the amount of time that is needed to keep up with all the news - I'm still keeping my habitual list of daily bookmarks that I used to turn into the news bits - but I lack the time that is required to at least update the news once in every 24h news cycle.
Seeing that the news forum doesn't yield the traffic I had hoped for, I've been thinking on and off about suitable ways to still provide some commentary (I still very much feel I got something to say) while not always requiring the additional hour of free time I might not always have to spare.

With that I open the floor to discussion - would you like to see my view on things? Is the commentary still relevant ( rest assured that i've not gone mute.. I've still got the same dim view on copyright 'reform' as always .. it's more a question of whether I can afford to spend all the time)?

Lastly, to those that have been disappointed by me disappearing I'd like to offer my apologies - I know I've failed you and I feel shitty about it - it's just that I don't have a suitable excuse (imho) so I remained silent for so long. I still visit the forum on a daily basis and am encouraged to see that even without my presence there's a lot of activity ( kept in check very nicely by my team of dedicated moderators who perform their duries day in and out without so much as a thank so (so Thank You! You guys are fantastic and the sole reason this place is still going strong!))

Always liked your writing style on the main page, I'd find myself reading every post, even if the application/tool you were talking about was one I'd never ever use.

It's great that the site is still going strong, due to the strength of the forums. Personally, I think you should delegate the Downloads and Guide pages to trusted forum members to keep them up to date. Most of resources on the actual site are pretty dated with the current methods that people use day to day

Doom9 has always been the most respectable and decent site ever which has been confirmed by SW authors and developers and video-audio ripping-rediting enthusiasts too.

Updated news, new headlines, new trends (like 3D), HTPC, new interface and bla bla... Why not?

I've been following doom9 since 2002 (and almost a four year member), still here and i'm 10 year elder now
but nothing changed on doom9.

At least this slogan should have been changed: (AFAIK doom9 established this site and forum at 2000.)

DVD, HD-DVD, 2D BD, 3D BD, anaglyph>3D SBS video , audio conversion, subtitle extracting and editing, video-audio demuxing, re-encoding, re-editing, re-muxing, SW,HW players and whatever else. It is not a DVD conversion only after eleven years... Anymore...
