Hello all,
I want to make DVD with subtitles. I have already encode video and audio streams to mpeg2. Now I have 5 files.
Movie.mpg
Eng.sub
Eng.idx
Rus.sub
Rus.idx

How can I authorise these to DVD?

Since idx/sub is a format developed by amateurs you won't probably find many commercial applications to support it. Maybe you'd need to convert them to .SUP (guess now the name of the converter :)).
Freeware programs are many, like dvdstyler, gfk etc.

Well, I have these subtitles in *.srt format too.
I am tried to use spumux (dvdauthor tool), but it renders it not so good. I don't understand how to change font colour, the size of it's outline/anti-alias/background...etc for srt subtitles.

What would you advise?

I'm sure it's explained in the help, I never used dvdauthor, I do everything except internet on Windows.
If the subtitles are a problem, then there's a great source of information here -> http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=12 . I assume you've read the man pages for each package.

Back in the day when the DVD format seemed relevant to me I used DVDlab to add srt subs to a DVD. Directly supported subs of DVDlab Pro are *.sub;*.srt;*.ssa;*.son;*.sst. It's not necessary to demux the mpg file as one usually has to do.

Maybe he can run DVDlab in wine, because I don't know of a Linux-version of this software.

BTW, I would like to have a short look on the IDX/SUB files created on Linux. On windows, excepting 2 programs, all the other render the bitmaps in an incompatible way, at least to ALL my Pioneers, except for the Blu-ray-player. If they'd work, I'll switch to Linux also for DVDs. :)
