From FRAPS to x264

I have some FRAPS footage I want to encode to x264. It looks great when encoded to Xvid or DivX, but when going to x264, there is noticeable slowdown. My computer is beefy enough to handle playback of 1080p x264. This happens regardless of which x264 encoder I'm using. This happens regardless of the bitrate on the output video.

What encoder should I try and what settings should I use?

- check the fps of the original and the encode.
- with x264 check --tune fastdecode (there is only one x264 encoder)

If the encoded video is 1080p60, your player might be trying to use DXVA, and, depending on your GPU, potentially causing a slowdown.
