Simple enough, I want to weed out the noises surrounding the sparkles - as can be seen from the screens below:

Having tried HQDering and DeHalo_Alpha at their default settings but I can barely see any difference. Hope I could find some better solution here :-)

I'm at work so I can't test anything directly on your source but I usually use Checkmate() and/or EdgeCleaner.avs for this kind of mosquito noise/gibbs effect or whatever you call that...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think Checkmate() can produce any better than HQDering. Have tested EdgeCleaner also and the difference is almost invisible.

That is usually the result of a bad(low) bitrate at the source. Since the image is broken at source you won't find any perfect methods, just compromises (you trade one artefact for another).
