hi,

i've successfully wrote two dvdr so far, thanks to the doom9 guides and ifoedit :)
i use nero to burn
i really think i followed all the steps from here
http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/nero.html
but both dvdr are called "NEW" in dvddecrypter
for sure it's a tiny problem but something simple must be missing

thanks

that happened to me also, with men in black...i think that's a reason why it doesn't work in my standalone...dunno what i'm gonna do :-\

The title that DVD Decrypter shows has nothing to do with the content inside the dvd--it's just a title. In your dvd burning application you should see a field to "name" the compilation etc.

As far as the standalone issue goes, make sure your player can play DVDR's. You can check that at vcdhelp.com

hi,

coop, these dvdr play well in my standalone, so i think your problem is elsewhere, are all your files and folders UPPERCASE ? did you carefully read the guides to use ifoedit ?

talman, for sure i know that the label or a dvd or hd has nothing to do with its content, and i wrote a name in nero, still don't know what the problem is

I would suggest you not use Nero to burn. It is notorious for making DVD-Rs that will not play in a standalone (although they seem to work fine on a PC). Use Prassi PrimoDVD instead. I don't want to be too critical -- I love Nero for burning CDs -- it just needs some work on the DVD front. If you have an A03, PrimoDVD probably came with the drive...

If you insist on using Nero -- you can change the title under the "Label" tab of the "New Compilation" dialog -- just change where it says "NEW" to whatever floats your boat.

I agree with jdobs. I made a DVD-R with Nero and it played on my PC and in my Pioneer stand alone, but wouldn't play in my Sony 860. Made another using Prassi Primo with the same media and same content and it worked just fine in the Sony. Stick with Prassi if you can.

Prassi doesn't like something about the video stream. It's actually good that it's issueing that error, because it's stopping you from burning something that isn't dvd compliant. Are you transcoding with TMPGenc or CCE? If so, you probably don't have the right GOP structure. Reply with the steps you are using and I can probably give you an idea of where you are going wrong. When I first started, I was ready to throw prassi out the window till I figured out what I was doing wrong with my encodes. Reply with your steps and we'll see what we can find.

Also, do you have DVD-RW? That will help keep costs down while your are busy making coasters. Like I said, I had LOTS of failure when I first started, now they seem to be a thing of the past, and I'm on to new things like keeping DVD quality, and single disk from DVD-9 masters without having to transcode.

aight, the movie i'm copying is Men in Black

so what i've been doing since this movie has 2 layers is rip out the ugly 4x3 aspect ratio

so step by step:

1) rip files to hd using dvd decryptor
2) analyzing dvd files (seeing which ones are 16x9 and 4x3)
3) the last set of vobs are the 4x3 aspect ratio, so i delete those files and leave all the other vobs in tact...and it happens to be under 4.3 gb's :)
4) fire up ifoedit
5) got vts sectors of all the ifo's starting from the last one and working my way to the first one
6) used the VIDEO_TS ifo and VTS_0_1 ifo from what ifoedit made
7) test the files with windvd
8) everything test out completly fine
9) fires up prassi, imputs VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders, set speed, set burner, click burn...about 7 seconds later...i get that funky error
10) coop is sad, and fires up nero...and that burns but doesn't work in standalone, only in pc dvdrom :(

there we go...

and yea i have 1 dvdrw around

My guess (here at 2:35am), is that your problem has something to do with the way you are re-authoring the movie (removing the unwanted content). I think anytime you remove vobs you'll need to make 0 byte files to replace what you have removed. Based on your steps, I'm not sure why Ifoedit is even working. Also your step 6 didn't indicate where you were having ifoedit make ifo's for you. 'get vts sectors' requires that the ifo's are already there.

If you want to copy a movie from a DVD (just the movie and not the extras), AND strip the unwanted subs and audio. You should try following the guide at:

http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/Derrow/create_s.html

First rip the movie using smartripper and do a 'movie' rip and select just the movie. That should leave only the movie on your HD. There's also another guide on doom9 or Derrows page that will help strip angles that might have different aspect ratios. Then use the link above to strip unwanted streams and then get vts sectors and that should give you a clean dvd that prassi will not error on.

I may be way off target here, (it is 2:42am), but it sounds like something is missing from your method and prassi is complaining about it. My understanding of that message is prassi sees something wrong with the makeup of your ifo's and vobs. Derros guides will produce clean stuff that should pass with Prassi.

If I'm way off, my apologies. I've been fighting my own DVD problems tonight in a different thread.

OH, make sure you use ifoed .82 or higher it will take care of lower case vts files and all you have to do is open the video_ts ifo for 'get vts sectors' and it will take care of all the others and will autosave. Much nicer.
