some suggestions:
- connect the container and codec selection or warn the user when a combination is chosen that will cause mencoder to write to another container than selected (mpeg2+mp3+wmv container -> avi(mpeg2+mp3))
- if input par != output par this should be respected during resize
- add (auto) crop support
- allow users to keep the current resolution
- preview for subtitles + font selection might be a good idea
- combobox for the audio track selection for streams with multi audio input
... (there are so many features one could add,.. ;))

Do you mean video size? If you select "Original" as video size, video size should be kept. But i dont know if that is what you mean by resolution.

@DJ-1 no it doesn't use Nero AAC, it just uses FFMpeg and Mencoder as backends. But i might add support for other tools in the future.

Nice piece of work, pretty fast encoding and good result quality.
But:
- a custom resize would be very useful. I mean, I want to convert from 1080p>720p (1280x544/536) and there are only standard sizes for downscaling. I need 1280x544 with "keep aspect ratio-Original".
- estimate filesize of converted file would be nice, also, before start the conversion
- a pause/resume function/button.

i think apply applies there better. Profile editor shows values from selected profile. Shouldn't it be that way?

I think there is a misunderstanding here. From now own, values that'll be passed to encoders are the values of the boxes you indicated with red. List is just some sort of suggestion. In short, everything except "Original" is "Custom".
I'll change texts around them to prevent further misunderstanding.

It was a mistake I made, that feature was not finished then and I'm still working on it. I'll make sure it comes with new release.

To tell you the truth i don't know what do you mean by that. I couldn't see anything.

Can you send me the encoder outputs? If it is empty (sometimes that happens) select "Export to Script" and send me the bat file.

Edit:
I found the source of the problem. TEncoder does not pass bitrate value to FFMpeg when encoding to h264. As a workaround, you can pass "-b:v A000" as custom argument, A being the bitrate you want.
I also found out that selecting "Close TEncoder" or "Open output folder" as post-encode option causes TEncoder to not to keep encoder logs.

I hope that you consider some of the suggestions.

1- Ability to keep Aspect Ratio of video and resize to any size
2- Auto Detect Black Borders and Auto Crop
3- Manual Crop for those who prefer that.
4- Use a single source file (.mkv) and detect any format of audio such as DTS/ DTS MA/ TrueHD and convert to any audio format
5- Detect subtitle forms (.srt/.pgs/.sup) in .mkv files or any, maybe Full BD (.m2ts) and output them in the Output Folder

Aren't DTS/ DTS MA/ TrueHD files detected? I don't have files containing these kinds of streams to test.

TEncoder accepts m2ts files and AFAIK ffmpeg and mencoder can encode them into other formats. But i dont know much about bluray discs.

@VoXHD are you sure there is a space here "-xvidencopts bitrate=3000:threads=1:-vf unsharp=l7x7:-2:c7x7:-2" between "threads=1:" and "-vf"? When entering custom command line, make sure first and characters are space. It is suppose to add these spaces but might be a bug.

I was afraid that a conversion "Movie audio track to pure audio file" would enforce a container, but if Video codec = Disabled, audio files are created as they should.

In case of pure audio output, it would be nice to have a quality level instead of a constant bitrate (e.g. LAME VBR MP3: -V # / Ogg Vorbis: -q #).

@LigH disabling video works like audio extraction as you stated. It determines output audio file's extension by detecting audio codec but sometimes that may fail, so i appreciate bug reports on that matter.

I was planning to write a different GUI focusing on purely audio encoding but i can add quality option too. First i must check if mencoder and ffmpeg supports that.

@ozok: Thanx for finally adding lossless support. :) Two small issues:

1. If I set the encoder to Huffyuv all the video specific settings like resolution and aspect ratio are disabled. If I want to change these settings I have to choose another codec first, change what ever I have to change and then set it to Huffyuv. That's a bug, right? ;)
2. It uses the ffmpeg variant of Huffyuv (FFVH) which can only be decoded by ffmpeg itself. In general, I can use LAV or ffdshow to handle this, but there are a few applications which use internal decoders instead of third party stuff and these might be unable to import this format. Better use the original Huffyuv.

No. These are very different tools.

Of course it is expectable that the selected target container will be used when the video stream is recoded.

But if the source video format is compatible with the target container, then it should be possible to change (re-multiplex to) the container format even without recoding the video stream.

Actually aspect ratio option is passed directly to the encoders so it makes sense to disable it.

I can't speak for all containers, but at least MP4 and MKV support PAR adjustment (without actually changing the video data). Isn't that what your aspect ratio option does?

Aspect ratio values are used if video is encoded. Otherwise video streams are just copied. I don't know FFmpeg or Mencoder writes aspect ratio info to container properly. But AFAIK we can say it is also copied from source if video stream is copied as well.

I only remember that there was some slight trouble with some "Freeware" 3GPP converter (stealthly using a renamed ffmpeg, with some ambushing registration feature), which was able to create files some mobile players could not play, and it was a quite "usual" combination (MPEG4-ASP with MP3 or AAC-LC, I don't remember exactly...)

IIRC there was a filter named "pan" for FFMpeg but i don't know about Mencoder. I'll look into it. But i remember it being fairly complex.

Unfortunetly, it is not easy to implement auto-croping in TEncoder, every file must be examined first which is not how TEncoder works. Maybe you could try feeding a simple avs script that just does auto-croping?

that's a good idea, although finding those values, then creating the script, then feeding that into this encoder (gui)......

that's the thing about autocrop, it really does save so much time and gets rid of superfluous steps (like creating avs scripts with values that need to be found out such as correct crop values)

i really do hope though that you can solve the DRC, BIG problem, having to adjust volume on TV because the voices can't be heard yet the special effect sounds are so loud there's smoke coming out the speakers LOL

As is well known the Mencoder presents problems when encoding at low bitrates, at least in my case with Mpge2. That is, not distributed properly bitrate in motion or static scenes, Mencoder that's fantastic away. I muffled this problem by defining an equation, but in later versions of mencoder not allow me to continue using it.
I wonder if there is a profile that optimizes finally bitrate distribution in Mpeg2 codification. Thank you.

I got two reports via phone which I could not yet verify:

a) Trying to convert a FLV (or some other sources) to AVC + AAC, the result doesn't contain any audio stream. Certainly to be investigated further with more details; either the audio stream cannot be decoded from the source, or the used encoder does not support AAC?

b) Minimizing the main window with empty queue quits the program surprisingly. I hope he did not miss it vanishing into the hidden tray icon container... this user is not used to Windows 7 auto-hiding many tray icons.

a) Some FLV videos downloaded from youtube can cause that problem. TEncoder, Tx264 and TAC (changed with latest version) use same code piece to identify audio track ID in the file and MediaInfo and FFMpeg sometimes report different ID for same audio track. I cannot confirm that for MEncoder.

b) That is really strange. Can he reproduce that with skinning disabled? TEncoder uses tray icon only for informative purpose not minimizing.

b) During a conversion, the main form disappears, and you can minimize the converter form. After the conversion finished, the converter form closes, the main form appears again. Now if you minimize the main form, it disappears from the task bar; there is a tray icon left which disappears when clicked. You can use the ProcessExplorer to bring the window back to front, though.

Indeed it is difficult to make muxing of audio tracks with video. I think the best is to use FFMPEG, as did some tests with m2v and ac3 in Mencoder and the resulting file was out of sync. The FFMPEG has an option called "map" that could be the solution.
I also noticed that Mencoder produces the pulldown is not as good as doing HCEncoder or DGPulldown, which curiously is included in the Mencoder as "tele_src, tele_dest".
I made ​​a BAT encoding MPEG2 (m2v) with Mencoder to low bitrates with visual (and subjective, of course) quality almost identical to HCEncoder, do not know if this is the way to publish.

Case in point: some crummy old anime (which turned out to be xvid improperly labeled wmv3 muxed into wmv9 containers) -- neither MeGUI nor Handbrake nor HDconvert did anything but barf when I tried to even open the file (which VLC could play just fine). Your app took about two seconds to figure it out.

The mere fact that you support drag-n-drop file opening puts you way out front of most people writing software.

(But of course you realize that praise is merely a segue to requests!)

Requests: more choices for resizing algorithms (i.e., I don't know what you're using) and filter and degraining options (the defunct AutoMKV has a very nice list worth emulating).

Well, any applicable filters you can find would be great. (I had been using AutoMKV to upscale DVDs to 720p, using MVdegrain3, FRfun7 and Limited SharpenFaster to produce very satisfactory results eliminating the filth and the aliasing on most plastic prints of 1980s films. Never could fine a decent de-halo'er or black-background-noise-remover, and AutoMKV more or less broke after I upgraded to Win7.)

I didn't understand your question properly. I'll answer the best I can.

-You can set fps to 60 if you want to.
-FPS value shown by encoder during an encode is an indicator of speed. This value depends on the settings you specified and the power of your computer.
-Setting fps to 60 won't make encoding process faster AFAIK.

"The extreme" is – in general – rarely useful, neither an extreme speed nor an extreme "quality" (preset ~ de-redundancy efforts) makes sense in most cases.

Using an extreme high-speed preset (e.g. "x264 --preset ultrafast") will cause inefficient encoding results.

Using an extreme high-qualityeffort presets (e.g. "x264 --preset placebo") will cause a waste of time and energy. No, it doesn't mean "quality". Not half as much as decreasing a CRF by one.

I've added this to to-do list ages ago but it seems I missed them. I've gathered enough information about these formats so it's likely that they will be added to TEncoder in a few weeks. I never actually converted to these formats, so I can tell you more after I do some test runs.

1) Wow, I can't believe that I didn't find that bug or noone else reported it! Thanks, it will be fixed with next release.
2) The thing that prevents TEncoder's GUI from being smaller is the number of controls on the right. I'm planning to put them in scrollbox if that works with skinning component. It most probably will be like some of the shareware encoders has.
3) Please use TAC's own thread for questions etc related to it. Why do you want to save logs to temp dir? It is for temp files.

Also, even if the subtitles were turned off, mencoder seems often unresponsive/very slow encoding.

The problem with unplayable MP4s is not in TEncoder; remember, TEncoder is only a GUI.

Blame ffmpeg / mencoder for multiplexing to incomplete MP4 containers (due to its "filter" behaviour, writing the output file sequentially only once). Fix them with MP4Box.

LigH beat me to it but Mencoder, for some reason, causes problem when using AAC audio. I just change audio codec to MP3 and works without a problem.
About MEncoder slowness, that might depend on many things but if you've selected AAC as audio codec, MEncoder writes lots of messages to console which might be slowing it down. I did a quick test and changing codec from AAC to MP3 speeds up the process at least x10 times.

I used Tencoder in order to convert some videos to webm, usually i use a ffmpeg script but i wanted to test a GUI, for some some reason webm videos converted with tencoder end up with nearly twice as much bitrate, if i select 900 as bitrate the converted video has 1600. What could be causing this?

I can get around 900 kbps (864 kbps). Try unchecking "CBR" next to video bitrate. You can enter manual options using "Custom Args" button.

Thank you for fixing the update check bug & screen resolution problem now TEncoder(3.4.0.3608) looks better in 800x600 resolution.

When skins are disabled in TEncoder(3.4.0.3608) many text in setting dialog are not visible because they are in white color.

Since the main difference between the TEncoder installer & TEncoder Portable version is the TEncoder executable, i have made a installer script which will enable TEncoder installer to install both installer version & the TEncoder portable version optionally similar to the foobar2000 installer. When the Portable version is selected the installer will not create uninstaller & just extract the files & the TEncoder Portable executable & if the Portable version is not selected the installer will install the regular version and create uninstaller. This will help the users who use both installed version & the portable version, plus if a user first uses the installed version then he wants to use the portable version he will not need to download the portable version separately the same installer can be again used to extract the portable version. I hope you like & use the script for TEncoder Installer.

Why mencoder fails to encode audio when any mpg-1 (vcd compatible) file is converted to avi file with xvid & mp3.
I didn't have a chance to test your script but it looks promising. About mpeg1 file, send log or a sample please.

I think the problem is in the command which TEncoder uses because the same mencoder.exe is able to encode the mpeg file with audio when the following command is used -

Same Problem is happening with mpeg 2 files, mencoder is not able to encode audio when used from TEncoder(3.5.0.3701) but the same mencoder is able to encode audio when it is used with following command -

First of all thank you the new option using it mencoder is able to successfully convert some of the mpeg files with audio, but in some mpeg files enabling this option mencoder is completely failing to encode the file and disabling this option it is encoding without audio i think this is a bug of mencoder itself.

It will be nice to have the optional context menu integration in TEncoder similar to the TAudioConverter.

Seeing the new Preview button i have got some new idea for TEncoder -

Please enable the brightness & contrast control button in the previewer.

The previewer is almost like a player so give a commandline option to directly start only the previewer as player.

Can you send me a sample, a part of the video or whole if it is around 50mb? I have some problematic files myself, mencoder reports warnings so much it gets really slow but in the end mencoder continues finishes encoding. But my samples are 8bit and rather short (1min-5min range) and I can't reproduce the problem you report with them.

Mencoder fails to encode with your sample. And it doesn't get stuck or anything, mencoder.exe just dies with no apparent cause. 2nd pass of 2 passes and single pass fail too. If you want to burn-in subtitle, you can use SmallX264 which is a gui for handbrake. Select the sub track you want to burn-in from drop-down menu and check "Burn-in".

I knew I shoulda named SmallX264 as AnimeRepack or something, with "Anime" in it.

I all ready use handbrake but not too often because video quality with same settings its lower than, for example, your Tx264. Don't ask me why but its true. Staxrip, xvid4psp, ripbot and others had the option to burn subtitles and I get same quality than your encoder but with hardsubs. I told you once that if the Tx264 has a tool to burn subtitles it will be the perfect encoder. Hope you can fix the Tencoder problem soon or add the option to Tx264, thanks for the answer and your time :) Ill try the smallx264 anyway to compare.

I was looking for a page related to TEncoder so I googled "TEncoder" and I found this: http://easyvid-video-converter.en.softonic.com/. This a slightly modified version of TEncoder by a company(?) named EasySoft. Since TEncoder is licenced with GPL, anyone can take it, re-brand it, while abiding GPL. After downloading "EasyVid Video Converter" I saw that it is not even properly modified. For instance, homepage is still my hompage, donation button directs to my homepage and interestingly they used portable version and it writes settings etc to its folder. They also forgot their settings.ini there. I don't know what they are playing at. I don't mind if they abide by GPL and mention me but there doesn't seem to be any indication in this direction. And there is no mention of me or GPL in their website (http://easysoft.globasearch.com/index.html) which seems to be unfinished, lots of "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet". Some other projects use modified TEncoder (X-TEncoder, for instance. one portable app package uses it.), but since they use GPL and mention me, it's OK.

I'm not sure what I should do. I'm considering sending them an email and asking them to release source code.

Edit: About window is the same as TEncoder - except program's name is changed- and GPL.txt is included in their installation. However I couldn't find any links to source code in their site. Is this a vialotion of GPL?

The FSF (https://www.fsf.org/licensing) will probably be your competent partner. Be certain about all the implications of your chosen license model, though.

The GPL is a controverse license; version 3 may be interpreted so strict that even executed applications must also comply the GPL (means in strict interpretation: your Open Source GUI may not call Closed Source apps to be GPLv3 compliant). You reported to have chosen v2 on your SourceForge project page, this is more tolerant.

Ignoring licenses is pretty common, many "shareware archives" do so, even computer magazines (e.g. Selur already complained about the german CHIP magazine and others ignoring his explicit restriction that sharing is not allowed without permission; and he also finds it pretty annoying that they use a fake "portable" version of Hybrid without proper settings).

-ss time_off set the start time offset

Unfortunately, "seconds" is quite coarse.

If you are trying to cut without recoding, it would probably cut at GOP ranges only, to avoid decoding issues. Especially regarding AVC, it possibly won't handle I and IDR differently, though.

@LigH, I use HH:MM:SS format to get them working. But as you said, they are not accurate, they add or remove couple of ms.
What kolpotoru asks, if I understood correctly, is to remove some part of video. It is easy to trim from beginning and end of the video with -t and -ss options but removing a part from video needs seperately encoding other parts and join them after that. This is at least how I thought it would be done. I think using a tool like Avidemux would yield a better result.

I've get an delay in the exported video. I dont know how to fix it. Is there an Auto delay calculation possible with your software?

i've edit my comment it seems it wasnt working because ive probably put the crop values in the wrong place (x and y boxes) but didnt put the resolution in the other boxes.

the whole crop/resize/maintain aspect ratio is more intuitive/easy in smallx264, in tencoder you have 3 places to select/input resolution.

Smallx264 uses HandBrake and it is very easy to do cropping/scaling with HB. Also HB reads autocrop values when it opens file, so Smallx264 can extract this information as well. But TEncoder uses FFMpeg and MEncoder and their cropping syntax needs output size too (ffmpeg cropping help (https://www.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-filters.html#crop)). I guess these values can be calculated automatically by TEncoder, I must take a look at it.

I have two questions:
First, with the program will exist the possibility in the future to remove various parts of a video and use direct copy? The Free Video Dub does.
Second, I have the Nokia 3500c and I noticed that when the profile is selected the output resolution is 160 X 120, causing the video becomes distorted by the bottom. The resolution should be 176 X 144, so I tried it and it has worked well.

1- I don't think that it will be possible to do that. Only parts from start or end can be removed. That's because you can only pass start and end position parameters to FFmpeg and Mencoder.
2- I copied device profiles from other encoders using automated scpits so there are bound to be mistakes. Thanks for informing me about it.

The "Constant Rate Factor" is an x264 specific model. It can't be simply applied to another codec which works completely differently. Not even Xvid can have it, because MPEG4-ASP does not provide the same internal relations as MPEG4-AVC (H.264).

Rebumping a request for more powerful filtering plugins made half a year ago:Ozok, take a look at these beauties (http://www.compression.ru/video/deblocking/smartdeblocking_en.html) (page down for the full list). A GUI implementing a list like that (as well as the usual fan favorites MVdegrain3 and FRFun) would be the Holy Grail....Most of the good one are already mirrored in ffmpeg: https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-filters.htmlCleaning up noisy, grain-ridden early DVDs and "lame" BRDs constitutes about 95% of my video needs.

So users can test and report faulty ones. I've already said that most of the profiles aren't tested and most of them are created using automated scripts using data from other programs.

What are you trying to do? Are you using 32bit/64bit version of TEncoder? The bug report you've sent only gives information about why program crashed.

I use TEncoder 32 bit.
I notice that when the program hangs mencoder.exe or ffmpeg.exe remain open in the background.
I'm back again to reformat my PC and I tested (by CLI) a version that was saved from Mencoder, and using a very old version of Avisynth (to eliminate incompatibilities with the latest versions), now works but not like before. I'm trying now not update directx 9.0c (so I formatted again) and update the rest of Windows XP SP3. We'll see what happens.

Reformatting the PC won't be the recommendable solution for every case.

Let's just wildly guess (because you did not provide any useful facts about this part of your issue) that you are trying to process an AviSynth script via TEncoder, and your AviSynth script uses DirectShowSource. Then the main issue is probably based on the installed DirectShow splitters and decoders. And TEncoder is not to be blamed in the slightest. TEncoder, being only a user interface, is always the least probable reason, because it is rather passive once the conversion startet, only monitoring the work either ffmpeg or mencoder do.

TEncoder isn't the ideal tool to encode avs scripts. Also post logs, if mencoder/ffmpeg hangs than they are waiting for an input or something.

I know that formatting a PC is not practical, but it had other reasons to do so apart from the problems with these applications.
Now I doubt if I updated Directx causes more conflict, my system is WXP SP3 and in my last formatted did not.

I keep focused on the Mencoder. As I used a 2010 version with no problems, I started taking samples to Mencoder 35925 (sherpya versions) and all good so far. Appears to be significant changes made ​​in the latest versions, for example the option cbp is now o=mpv_flags=+cbp_rd.

Moreover I had to re-employ FFMS 2.19 , I was using a test mode this version, FFMS2 C-plugin r809+35:

Dubbing video with an external audio file will be a useful addition but it should have option save to video with duel audio. This is one feature due to which many of us still use obsolete virtualdubmod. So if the new beta versions will support duel audio files output, i would like to try it. The problem with mencoder is still there, TEncoder fails to encode audio of mpeg2 video files & using "Do not use audio id" TEncoder completely fails to encode the file. This should be fixed using SVN-r33883(20110719-gcc4.5.2) build of mencoder.

Please add a option in TEncoder to encode few seconds this is a very useful option because when we are not sure weather TEnoder will be able to convert video then rather then converting whole file converting few seconds for testing will be useful.

The option to encode few seconds is available in "Moo0 VideoConverter" & it makes the task very easy.
The log files are empty because in first case the video file is converted without audio and in the second case using "Do not use audio id" option TEncoder produces a 0 byte avi file.

I've downloaded and tried to encode your file. It seems that neither MPlayer nor MEncoder cannot detect any audio from it. FFmpeg seems to be able encode it.
Mencoder's message regarding lack of audio in your file.
MPEG: No audio stream found -> no sound.
I tried the build that comes with TEncoder and the latest x64 build from http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php (where I used to get my builds). I don't know if this means your file is faulty or MPlayer/MEncoder buggy, you may wanna report that to MPlayer/MEncoder developers.

PS. TEncoder created perfect logs in my case.

The problem is not only with this file other mpeg2 files are also having same problem.
I think the problem is with the mencoder version included with TEncoder because i have replaced the mencoder included in TEncoder with SVN-r33883(20110719-gcc4.5.2) build of mencoder and it was able to convert the mpeg2 files.

The problem with Mencoder to encode to MPEG2, besides those already mentioned with recent releases, is to be defined more options with TEncoder, but the program is interrupted. Try it with Mencoder to encode and use as container and codec MPEG2. The only way is to use the CLI mode and use old versions of Mencoder.

With FFMPEG no problems with the latest version of TEncoder (for encoding to MPEG2), only with Mencoder.

Does it make sense to set audio and subtitle tracks for all selected files?
I mean, i loaded a folder with lots of files. But I dont want to use the first audiotrack, but the second. So I select all files and change audio to second track. But the change is only applied to one single file, not to all selected. For batch conversation this is not very comfortable.

Maybe you can add a function to select the tracknumer, or language (languese would be the better one i think) an make it possible to apply this to all files together.

Would that make sense ?

It makes sense and IIRC there was a feature like this in the first releases of TEncoder (it's been a while!). I plan to make a few changes to audio and subtitle track selection (ability to add subtitle files etc.) but I don't know if that feature will be added. For the time being however, you can use "export to script" and edit the bat file (replace all "-map 0:1"s to "-map 0:2"s for example) to get the result you want. Not ideal I know, but it might work.

"Default scale" under "Subtitle" tab controls the size of the subtitle. I don't have that much experience with ass subs but IIRC they are treated like srt subs. Also, use preview function to see how changes to subtitle option works for you before running the actual encoding.

Yeah,i tried all available mencoder/x264 settings , but mencoder still use around 85% cpu.It's not Tencoder fault.
Mencoder is broken by design,ffmpeg is faster.But with mencoder is easier to hardburn custom styled .ass subs and i will stick with it.

I only ask to add option to choose fdk in audio codec settings in Tencoder.I will compile my own build.I dont like other aac encoders,fdk for now is best among others.

And at last one feature request.Can you add ability to edit whole command line options before encoding.For instance scale is used always and i want to remove it. :)

Hi,
Been trying out TEncoder to create "hard subtitles" into existing mpg files. This is the odd behavior we are seeing
1. Source video files are MPG, with MPEG 1 Audio Layer 2, FPS 29.97
2. trying to burn a subtitle file saved as an SRT and created in subtitle edit. The subtitles are perfectly syncd in subtitle edit
3. The exported settings are H264, 6000 KBPS, CBR, aspect ratio :keep, FPS: same as source, container: mp4

The end result has the subtitles out of sync but burned in.

Any suggestions to fix the sync? Any subtitle format other than SRT?

Also, the "Trim" feature tool is grayed out. Is this feature activated yet? any hints if so?

@disto I don't think the mencoder version included in the package supports fdkaac. It's a bit old but is the only mencoder version that I've came across that respects subtitle font settings.

@infante Everything seems to right about your steps. Is it possible that mencoder detects source's fps wrong? I can't think of nothing else, please check encoder logs or post them here. Also, did you try first preview the file within TEncoder? You can enable trimming in settings window > encoding tab.

Hi All,
found more info.

Our original steps which resulted in bad sync from TEncoder were: 1. digibeta source and captured/encoded to MPG with TMPGENC 2. Brought the MPG file into subtitle Edit (using VLC to display video) to sync subtitles and noticed it was off and resync'd the file. It looked good in subtitle edit when done. 3. re-encoded in TEncoder to burn subs which resulted in out of sync.

I wanted to confirm the source so I re-encoded the source to MKV and brought the MKV into subtitle edit and the SRT file worked perfectly without any modifications. I re-processed the "burned subs" in TEncoder and it sync'd perfectly!

I re-looked at the original MPG that resulted in the bad sync and interestingly VLC player was displaying the time code as 1:49:17 and TMPENC/AVANTI were both showing timecode at 1:49:49 .

So my conclusion is that VLC is the culprit as I used VLC as my video player in subtitle edit. VLC correctly read the MKV but incorrectly read the MPG which threw off everything else. I have since changed subtitle edit to use DirectShow and everything works well. Thanks Ozok for the message...

@kolpotoru I can add this iff ffmpeg or mencoder supports it. AFAIK latest versions of ffmpeg has some hardware decoding support but I don't know to what extended that is. I constantly forget about merging. Sorry about that.

If Information about Hardware acceleration is not available now then we can wait until we find more information about it.

Hi. Just gave the program a try and while selecting 'Codec options' for MPEG4 I tried using CRF instead of bitrates. It asked me for bitrate and used the bitrate I specified instead of using CRF. How do I change this behaviour? Thanks

CRF is only available for MPEG4 AVC/H.264 (TEncoder calls it "H264", will probably use the x264 library), not for MPEG4 ASP (TEncoder calls the generic ffmpeg implementation "MPEG4", it is similar to Xvid).

Again, I have many mkv files. I want to mass convert them to mp3 so I can listen to them in the car. It works but the mp3 is CBR. How do I make them ABR ?

How do I crop a video when re-encoding it with TEncoder?

Assume I got a video with black letter box around it.
I want to re-encode the video but crop the black parts. Other tool offer an (auto-)crop function.

How do I do this with TEncoder?

How do I tell TEncoder to use another directory for storing the fat files *.log and *.mbtree?
Currently these files are stored in installation directory but I want to have D:\temp\ folder instead.

Ozok, a new feature suggestion: Add PAL<>NTSC (25fps<>23/976fps) retiming options with two checkboxes (for video and audio). This will re-encode audio to the new time and re-stream video (if also checked) to the desired frame-rate. (Including video-restreaming would save users an additional step with MKV Merge.)

My conversion from an .m2ts Blu-ray file to ProRes .mov resulted in sideways video -- 1920 became 1080 and vice versa. How do I figure out how to correct this?

Update: I tried remuxing the .m2ts with tsmuxer into new files rather than using the raw blu-ray .m2ts files and the remuxes come through sideways as well.

Update: Nevermind. I found the rotate settings.

Do you need QuickSync for encoding (to which video format, AVC?) or decoding?

As TEncoder is based on ffmpeg or mencoder, and you may be able to compile ffmpeg with some QuickSync support, it may be possible; but I believe to remember that other authors had issues, not easily understanding how to handle such a build.

Hybrid by Selur offers support for some QuickSync accelerated tools, and should also support batch encoding.
