Need a bit of help here. Have had success with back-up previously, however this Decca Blu-ray of the Opera Aida simply will not recode using same settings for previous success. Attaching text files, Perhaps someone could comment on what is going wrong. Thanks.

Things to try:

1. Uninstall and reinstall FFDSHOW and HAALI. Sometimes other installations will make changes that interfere with them.
2. If you have any CODEC packs installed, get rid of them they often interfere with normal operation of FFDSHOW.
3. If overclocked, slow it down a notch or two and try again.

If that doesn't fix it:

4. Uninstall HAALI and install this older version of HAALI. (http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/MatroskaSplitter.exe)

If it isn't fixed by any of these, post again and we'll look for other things... either way, let me know how it worked.

Reinstalling ffdshow & hall allowed a backup with impressive video, however there was no audio track associated with the video, I did notice before starting that there were two audio tracks X'd out when I picked the movie only mode. In the settings the two boxes about not converting DTS were both checked. I wondered about this but thought the program must know better. End result is a DVD-DL with only video (great resolution but useless unless you are deaf-English subtitles came through also).

Were any audio tracks NOT X'd out? Just double-click one of those 'X' icons and that track will be then be included in the rebuild.

It could be that this disc does not have a track id matching your selections on the 'setup' screen in BDRB. If you have selected only English ('Eng') tracks, and the BD doesn't have English language tracks, then I suppose all of the audio tracks would be de-selected.

It is an opera disk sung in Italian. I doubt if there were any English tracks. The only audio tracks that showed up on the initial screen were both X'd out. Perhaps I should just try backup of the entire disk as there are no "extras" on the disk, Just the Opera.

You have the reason there is no audio.
If no audio tracks were selected, or your setup does not have the desired audio selected as default, then it is not the fault of BD-RB that you have no audio! Same would be true for subtitles.
DTS or HD audio must be converted to DD AC3 to be AVCHD compliant, so having "Do Not Convert" selected is meant for BD-25 backups and not BD5/9 backups.

BD-RB is pretty intuitive, but does need some user interaction! ;)

That makes sense. I just assumed that when I picked DVD9 the program would automatically set the defaults for DVD9. That does not seem to be the case. Trying a new burn with the Do not convert not checked, and the existing audio tracks un'Xed. Looks like it will take about 8-10 hours to see if it comes out ok

Do not convert will have no effect, the audio will still be converted as you can't have HD audio on a DVD. The audio alone will be bigger then the target size, it HAS to be converted. But now by having that option unselected it will be converted for BD's aswell. The reason you didnt have audio to begin with is because you're settings in setup didnt match any language string on the disc. As such the audio was stripped

Thanks Again. I started a recode before the last two messages were received. I took the X's off the two audio channels AUD_001 LPCMm Stereo, Italian and AUD_002 TS-HDXLL Multi-Ch, Italian. I removed the checks on Do not convert but left the check of AVCHD checked. Will this be the correct settings for a DVD/9? If not, should I abort and start over? What are the correct settings if I wanted a BD-25. I was not going to try a BD-25 until I got a successful DVD/9 result. Sorry that I am still very new at this but it is slowly sinking in. Seems like a great program and the results (at least video are very good).

You can leave the checkbox for "do not convert", as that checkbox only applies on BD25 backups. Even with that checkbox ticked, it will be ignored when backing up to DVD's for the simple reason that the audio alone will in most cases be bigger then the target disc on itself. So BDRB doesnt have a choice but to recode it. Also if you recode to AVCHD it has to encode to be compliant with the AVCHD standard. so just tick the boxes if you want to keep HD audio on your blu-rays. It'll just be ignored for DVD backups.
